I’m not sure where to post dealership warnings. So, if this gets moved, I’m OK. I bought my Maverick back in July from a large Ford dealership. I won’t name names, but they are in a well-known city in southern Maryland. They share the name of the city, are located on Crain Highway, and the name starts with a Wa and ends in rf.
  • They had an ICE Lariat that was pretty much what I had been looking for and I asked the salesman to test drive it. He agreed and brought around a hybrid and told me there was no difference.
  • The finance manager was old-school flim-flam with new tricks. All the paperwork was done on a large, flat-screen monitor laying on his desk. He kept talking and pointing to electronic signature lines. When it was all over, he gave me a thumb drive. I repeatedly told him I wanted no extras, just the truck. When I got home, I plugged in the drive and was surprised to see that he had added 2 service contacts worth $3K. They canceled them, but it took 2.5 months and many, many calls to get them taken off my loan.
  • After 3 months, I discovered that my old plates had never been transferred and the Maverick was unregistered. Again – many, many phone calls before they finally submitted the paperwork to MD Motor Vehicles.
I should also note that they do not like to answer the phone. The only way you have a chance is to push the button for new car sales and ask to be transferred. Even then, there is little chance anyone will answer and you will be dumped into an unidentified voice mail box with no chance of a return call.
Dealership should be sued and turned in to the better business bureau. Employee should also be fired.

I experienced similar treatment from dealership I bought my Maverick from. I arranged my own financing and declined all offers. My problems with blind voice mails and no response came a month later when I had to take it in for warranty work. Anytime I actually had a dialogue with someone it was by text or Email and was always told so & so from this or that department would call or contact and they never did. I will mention names it was Corwin Ford of Springfield MO.
My biggest disappointment was their failure to do what they said they would do.
I reached out to the Ford corporate member on this site and was able to reach a resolution that satisfied me.

It should be a big red flag if they're making it hard for you to read the documents they want you to sign. Can't emphasize that enough. If they don't seem to want you to read it, that's a signal that you absolutely should read it!

Same experience with the finance guy I had at Sheehy Ford in Springfield, VA. He almost tanked the deal with his nonsense. Ended up having to call back to get some ridiculous lifetime service plan removed from the loan.

I ordered a 2024 Hybrid XLT from Bud Clary Ford in Moses Lake WA after going through AARP auto. Took eight months to get it and it was exactly as ordered. The only two responses I got were from this dealer and Corwin Ford in Kennewick, WA. I choose this dealer as they are closer to Spokane where I live. Previously I had talked to Wendle Ford in Spokane. They contacted me about a Maverick they claimed a customer cancelled as he did not want to wait any longer. They attempted to high stick me $3,000 over MSRP; I told them to pound sand. My Maverick arrived in Moses Lake and I purchased it on March 16. They never asked for a deposit and I elected an extended warranty for six years which the honest F & I guy sold me at half-price. No funny business no trick sales tactics all was honest and straightforward. I give them all sales and F & I five stars. Truck is perfect I have 7,000 miles now no problems, one recall which I refuse to have done as it is computer related. I will do business with them again. Sorry you have had issues with your dealer. I prefer to do business with a smaller dealer in a smaller city and have no problems getting on a plane to go get a truck I have ordered. By the way average mileage over the past month mostly city is 45.3 I am very happy with this truck.

Our dealership inTucson bent over backwards to make things go smoothly. Doesn’t hurt that I have bought ten or eleven trucks previously from them over the past thirty years (have lost count) and the owner is a stand up guy in the community. They also used the flat screen and had no problem with us going through the paperwork line by line - no surprises.

This dealership should be out of business soon enough. Make sure you tell everyone you know. I suspect it's slimy employees because dealerships are not cheap and, in this day, and age it's not hard to get the word out. You may have an owner who in unaware but for me that wouldn't be an acceptable excuse.

Ford dealership in Desoto Texas did the same thing to me except they used this little tablet you could hardly see anything on. Finance guy ended up being fired and as you, it took me months and many phone calls to get my money returned that he fraudulently added to my contract.

I've bought two new cars in the last 20 years from that same dealership and had no problems on either deal. Both went through Ford credit. Two different owners in that time though.

But...in the mid eighties a man I knew bought a new F-150 from Doug Stanley Ford in De Soto and wound up in a big mess with them.
Long story short, after a deal was made on the price of the truck Mr H financed through Ford credit and took delivery. The salesman then decided he needed more money on the deal and forged a new retail sales order and loan contract with much higher numbers than were in the original deal. Mr H found out that something was wrong when the payment book arrived and none of the numbers matched his original sales order and loan contract. My friend had all of his original paperwork in order but the manager refused to honor the original deal and in so many words called Mr H a crook. After a lot of back and forth and a call to the Dallas County DA's office things finally got straightened out and Doug Stanley Ford had to honor the original deal at the lower numbers.
