The interior plastic is fucking garbage. Excuse my French.
Don’t worry about it. This is quite the erudite group.
Most of us speak French.

Has anyone tried 303 automotive protectant? Seems like the coating would allow items to glide off, without damage to the surface
I have coated the interiors of both of my Mavericks as well as all the exterior trim and tanneau covers and don't have a scratch anywhere.

I ordered the XL with every intention of having it reupholstered in the near future .My son in law just had his F 150 reupholstered for $2200 by our local upholster ,Russell's Upholstery .You may have seen his work featured in Hot Rod magazines. It is twice the quality of the Lariat package.

I am definitely going to put something on mine but want to get something that drys really well as I detest the film that some will place on interior glass when they evaporate on the really hot days. I have no idea which product would be best, maybe this 303 is it?
this is specifically why I use it. When I used to detail cars, customers who wanted a natural look and feel on the interior preferred 303.

There are seat belt buckle condoms available on Amazon.
Are these what you are referring to? this is all I could find that would protect the plastic from the seatbelt, or is there something else you are talking about

That blue textured plastic does seem to be scratch prone.
I already bought some protectant spray bc I read about this awhile back

eh, I’ve seen Porsche Caymans with color wearing off of interior plastics, which is bad when your interior is tan and it wears to black underneath.
A few scuffs on dark blue plastic of a $21-$31K truck won’t hurt as badly as interior issues of a Boxster/Cayman.

But either way, I feel the plastic will hold up over time, even if it has some scratches. 🤷🏼‍♂️
I'd consider cracked plastic to be an issue, which this isn't. Scratches and scuffs are expected wear and tear. My preowned Nissan Frontier has exactly the same scratches from the seat belt buckle.

I encourage anyone who is concerned with excessive wear and tear to peruse a CarMax lot and see what typical used cars look like. I'd bet at least a third of them have horribly-repainted front bumper covers, including my CarMax-purchased Nissan Frontier.

I'm reluctant to put paint protection film (PPF) on the bumper because I'm sure that $99 Maaco paint job (or whatever it is) will rip off when it comes time to replace the PPF. It looks like maybe ten minutes was spent "masking" (if it can be considered such) the vehicle.

As a former mechanic and former professional auto detailer, I'd say the vast majority of the motoring public treats vehicles like appliances. Out of the customers I served as a detailer, I'd say maybe 20% kept their cars tidy and did spot-cleaning. Even folks with brand new Escalades and Ford Platinum pickups would trash the insides and call me for a cleaning job.

That’s the “lipstick on a pig” thing. It’s a cheap truck. You added a bunch of doo-dads for 75% over the base model, and now complain that it’s a cheap truck.
To an extent, yes. My Frontier PRO-4X Luxury Package in my opinion, the most optioned-out that a 2nd-gen Frontier could be, even more so than the luxury "SL" trim. The PRO-4X Luxury has everything that the SL does, plus the additional off-road enhancements of the PRO-4X.

I have the same crappy interior plastics that the base-model S trim does, and that trim has crank windows, manual locks, and air conditioning was optional until 2016. Mine are just a dark charcoal color, maybe to hide the scratches and dings better? Who knows.

I ordered the XL with every intention of having it reupholstered in the near future .My son in law just had his F 150 reupholstered for $2200 by our local upholster ,Russell's Upholstery .You may have seen his work featured in Hot Rod magazines. It is twice the quality of the Lariat package.
I was quoted about that much from a reputable local upholstery shop here in Southern California to get my Nissan Frontier reupholstered in full leather, including the five seats, center console lid, A-pillar trim, and B-pillar trim.

Most automakers that still use actual bovine leather to some degree will have "leather-trimmed" seats, including my PRO-4X Luxury. Meaning only the seating surface (the part your butt and back touch) and maybe the forward-facing part of the headrests are leather. The rest is vinyl. Both to save cost and save weight.

Let me know how it works out. I honestly don't think it's gonna help.
Probably not. Just makes me feel better I tried
