By "first world" I assume you mean all the convince of modern technology. The over riding problem is the instant "nanny" prompts, chimes, and screens that will never go away. I'm a grown ass man, I don't need an animated object to tell me that I just opened the car door or I left the key in the ignition (intentionally) OR (for the love of God), that I have, infact, buckled my seatbelt!!!
I wasn’t kidding… look at the serenity here. 😀

My local radio station plays the same songs over and over. It’s like they got a two hour music track. The rest is stupid talk talk. Very little news that’s accurate or informative.
It’s mostly bullshit and the commercials are constant.

I had read that thread about mymavmode and that gripe about returning to normal is on my list but down farther than the chimes and screens. If your serenity comes from reprogramming by Forscan, I'm still undecided on that. I'm not very tech savvy and my dealership said it would void the warranty.
There's a new version of MyMavMode that just plugs into the CAN connector under the hood. It cannot void your warranty any more than plugging a USB cable into the charging port under the radio can.

That is good to know, thank you.

That is exactly what gives me my "serenity," and your dealership lied. Forscan is not without "some" risk, but there are plenty of tutorials and videos and such that have helped the least savvy of us.

Yes, I know it's a lie because they just don't want to do it for me. I might try as a condition of buying their extended warranty. They really want that chunk of my money. 😂
As for doing it myself, I just don't think I can commit myself to that learning curve right now, but I also don't see myself pressing ok for the rest of my life.

One of my neighbors worked for Ford on some of their web site UX and he says it was like being trapped in quicksand. You'd want to change one word in a description, it would have to go to legal and you'd get an answer 6-8 weeks later if you could go ahead or not.

This isn't even their vehicle UX, just the web site UX. On the vehicle side it must be even worse. Their programmers probably hate this stuff MORE than we do but there probably isn't much they can do about it, realistically

My main gripe on my 2025, which is IMO a genuine safety hazard, is that if you turn down the dashboard brightness to some reasonable level for very low light environments (driving in the country on unlit roads), the row of buttons which includes the hazard light switch becomes invisible. I've been in a situation where I wanted to warn drivers behind me of something but simply couldn't find the switch.

EDIT: just remembered another gripe ... you pull into a gas station and want to reset the "trip 1" or "trip 2" setting before fueling to track your mileage. Put the truck in Park, undo your seatbelt OHHHH here's a nice seatbelt warning that CAN'T BE DISMISSED, even tough the truck is in Park ... so you have to redo your seatbelt in order to access the menus ... : rage :
I agree with you on the seatbelt warning. I document my fueling on every vehicle I own. This way, when you start losing fuel mileage, you can start addressing it. Don’t get me started on the adaptive cruise problem. On an XLT package, upgrading to premium and paying the $760 for upgraded copilot, you should have Blindspot monitoring and adaptive cruise. But Ford failed to do that.

I went with a 2024 XLT Lux Hybrid because I wanted real buttons and knobs and not everything on a touch screen. I only use the screen for car play maps and it would be nice if it was larger, but it will do.

As far as SW quality. It is much better than our Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. Its software is a total mess. Sometimes I have to reset it just to get the iPhone connected via car play again.

In my working days I did avionics software. You're correct in that everything goes through legal. Even the most simple change takes a ton of red tape, reviews, testing, reviews, planning, and did I say reviews? Every time a plane crashes, attorneys show up in force. Plans crash rarely, cars everyday. I can only imagine how much scrutiny they get. So it really is not surprising how handcuffed the devs feel.

And your are correct in that the truck is comfortable and a joy to drive! I love it.
Wow our other car is a Pacifica phev hybrid. Love both of them. Especially since we have solar!!!

Mine was not sold to me like this.
This perturbation came after the most recent software update to my 2022.

Wait for it. 2028 or 2030 will bring the knobs and buttons back. For an added cost. The "Retro Edition".

Btw, this is what a trucks dashboard should look like:
Ford Maverick Truck is great, Ford's software is holding it back IMG_2084

-I understand there is a way You can upgrade your screen to the bigger 2026 one (possibly get the best of both?)
- Isnt it great to hear folks say Ford Software sucks and then we find out Chrysler is even worse, - I rented a Chevy and thought it was worse too, and now it seems all GM will discontinue CarPlay/Android Auto which have been the best enhancements to car electronics ever, hmmmm this is like presidential elections and choosing between what we guess is lesser of the evils. (not sure if GM will succeed but apparently they will go w android automotive but that doesnt allow google maps or android apps- only theirs?- is this brave or just stupid?)
