Interesting commentary. I don’t have any of these complaints.

When I get into a new car, I learn to operate the car the way the engineers designed it to function, rather than trying to force the car to conform to my expectations.

For example, my other car is a Tesla model S. Hands down, it has the best software of any car on the market today. If I expected my Maverick to operate the same way as my Tesla, I would be sorely disappointed. But I’m totally fine with how my Maverick operates (24 ecoboost lariat).

If I don’t like how the vehicle operates, I don’t buy it.

Unless I'm mistaken, The seatbelt minder can be dismissed by simply pressing the ok button, I believe.
Yes you are correct. The on board manual will tell you how to shut off the chime and OK will dismiss the 1/2 screen warning to show the normal speedo layout. But as we discussed in a different tread, I still have to acknowledge that my truck acknowledged that I buckled my seatbelt. 🤪

I’ve got the ‘25 XLT and let me tell you, the software is absolutely the worst. I turn off the brake coach. It always magically come back on. Sometimes after a couple of weeks, sometimes after a day. The seatbelt notification is also annoying. I don’t need the car beeping at me and a seatbelt notification on top of my speedometer display (which stays on after all belts are fastened). Really great truck besides the software. Coming up on a year of ownership and it’s my only complaint.
I agree. So many small things that nearly ruin an otherwise great product. If the truck is in park, there should be no door chime. If I get out because I forgot something, I have to press ok, even if I buckled up again. It's infuriating. Don't these programmers ever use the vehicle and think about the experience or are they 5th graders learning how to make a power point presentation for the first time. Are the heads of these departments busy winterizing their boats?

In my opinion, those things are mildly annoying. But they don’t rise to the level of being infuriating. But I guess we all have different things that frustrate us . Having said that, it would be nice if they offered an update that would allow us to change the settings to reflect customers common complaints.

Imagine if ANY car manufacturer offered hand crank windows, wing windows, floor vents, ect... now days.
We boomers would be in heaven.
If they offered floor vents and the wing windows, I would be so happy that I might cry tears of joy, especially for the wing windows. However, I have no interest in hand, cranked windows.😂

I'd actually like to have a CD changer as long as it can read MP3's. You can load your whole library without having your phone hooked in.
CD player yes please.
No talking head DJ’s saying absolutely nothing, no commercials, no more playing only a few songs off great albums.

I’ve got Sirius, it’s tolerable.

I am pretty sure the drive screen switching views on its own is not a feature the engineer designed, but just poor software coding. Likewise, not matching the car color to your screen vehicle representation in all areas is just lazy.

The great thing about all the software in these cars is that UI refinements from how customers use the cars is actually something a manufacturer can easily implement without needing to change hardware. I have often found engineers are brilliant, but not great at completely thinking through a cohesive user-interface.

Overall, none of the gripes listed are deal breakers if the truck performs mechanically and comfortably - they are actually all items that can be improved as it's just software.

I actually like live radio. I like the News breaks. Might be a shootout nearby or a prisoner escape or even mundane news. Sometimes community events are mentioned. Also when traveling I like to hear the local flavor. Satellite or my collection is good for continuous listening especially through dead areas. But I like live too

The AM reception in my Maverick is probably the best I've ever had.

In the example they’re describing, there is no “OK” to acknowledge. Your options are to put the seatbelt back in, cycle the ignition off/on, or just to wait to reset the trip meter after you’ve fueled. A first-world prob for sure, but it used to frustrate me at the gas station as well.

I disabled all the chimes and minders in my truck and I’m at peace now. 😀

If I still listened to music while driving - I’d seriously consider one of the many automotive plug & play portable CD players. Maybe there are even ones to listen to my hundreds of cassettes.

But these days the only sounds coming out of my speakers is the sound of British accent Siri giving me directions & the the sweet sound of my fake engine revs. Modern day James Bond:)

I agree I have Sirius and don't get all the commercials on it like the Local FM stations that play 20 minutes of commercials then 20 minutes of Music. And Yes I also miss the CD player.

By "first world" I assume you mean all the convince of modern technology. The over riding problem is the instant "nanny" prompts, chimes, and screens that will never go away. I'm a grown ass man, I don't need an animated object to tell me that I just opened the car door or I left the key in the ignition (intentionally) OR (for the love of God), that I have, infact, buckled my seatbelt!!!

By the way, I love my truck.
