I’d buy a Maverick AWD 2.0 L Turbo with no infotainment screen on my dash at all.
Give me A/C and heat,
Power:
Steering,
Brakes,
Windows,
And :
Cruise control,
Intermittent wipers.
Heated seats and steering wheel,
Full control of my automatic transmission.
I’d keep the TPMS and air bags.

Shit can the rest of the quite unnecessary tech.

And I’d fire the guy who made the Much hated
Auto stop/start the default setting.

Build that kind of uncomplicated reliable glitch free system and all us old farts would shut up.

-I understand there is a way You can upgrade your screen to the bigger 2026 one (possibly get the best of both?)
- Isnt it great to hear folks say Ford Software sucks and then we find out Chrysler is even worse, - I rented a Chevy and thought it was worse too, and now it seems all GM will discontinue CarPlay/Android Auto which have been the best enhancements to car electronics ever, hmmmm this is like presidential elections and choosing between what we guess is lesser of the evils. (not sure if GM will succeed but apparently they will go w android automotive but that doesnt allow google maps or android apps- only theirs?- is this brave or just stupid?)
You can upgrade, but it is a bit pricey. I dont use anything on the touch screen anyway, except for maps from car play. I guess I'm just a luddite!

My other truck is a 2013 Ram 1500 tradesman, 8' bed, standard cab, with as few bells and whistles I could get. You know kind of a fleet truck.

When looking for my mav , I did not want fleet so did not go XL. I wanted heated comfortable seats, 400W inverter and bed lighting, but not much else. The XLT LUX had what I wanted. The issue was most XLT Lux around here also had a sun roof, which I did not want. The truck I got also had the black appearance package so great looking wheels and the now extinct black oval was a bonus.

It will be interesting to see how GM does with their own software. I dont hold much hope given the current state of affairs.

It’s a nice little truck with a four door cab.

All the electronics that make it go and economical should be flawless and transparent, hidden.

The, ‘Toy Box’ sitting in the middle of the dash should be optional, removable and an option.

I can imagine how cool these little trucks would be without that screen sitting up there.

It should have a hidden docking port for say an IPad in that spot.
Owners could download and configure the thing while sitting inside the house.
Then walk it out to the Mav, plug it in and play.

As for performance tuning, it should be cheap and simple.
That way you could void your warranty and go play at the race track any time you want.
It’s your truck.

Besides Ford would make a mint fixing or replacing engines and tranny’s when the hotshot tuners over do it.
