Got to remember that with just 2 people in the truck already adds about 350 lbs leaving just 1150 lbs for gear. Every Lb takes away from the 1500 total

exactly why I got no option XL, has more payload than half the XLT and lariats. most of the sticker I saw had around ~1300lbs, only the base xl had 1500.

I already have a travel lit 690 fd I think will work at 1100 pounds and 6’9” floor length. Have my fingers crossed, hopefully someone will make airbags kits for helper springs.

Unless that 1100 lbs is all inclusive of everything you pack plus passengers, not a chance. I don't think it will handle very well and the the fuel mileage will be terrible with all that extra wind resistance.

It’s not a full time addition so mileage isn’t a concern. Mostly within a few hundred miles trips. The #1095 is from the mfg. this model is built for Toyota Tacoma’s so I’m hopeful.

Your max payload is 1500, but depending on your equipped options will be lower than that by a significant amount. Your body weight and that of your passengers and gear must be deducted as well. I don't see it happening unless you plan to violate your GVWR. Even if you don't care, the handling characteristics will be extremely unsafe. This vehicle was not meant for such an addition particularly when including the added frontal area for wind resistance and the fact that most of the extra weight will be towards the back. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. There can be potential legal and insurance complications to modifying your vehicle in such a way as well. There are other lighter options for vehicles like this. I think you would be negligent and irresponsible to try and put this camper on a Maverick.

I agree with some of what you’re saying, however 1500# payload to me means it will hold #1500 pounds. Therefore GVWR is still under with 1095#’s… no passengers, 1 driver, and a 16‘ boat pulled behind it, which is also under the #2000 towing rating…. Is it maxed out, yep, probably. As a carpenter of 40 years I’ve always maxed out my trucks, this one will be no exception. And yes well within my legal limits ! ahh the days of Ford Couriers which were quite capable with way less statistically. Ford can do anything Tacoma can do and better !

Oh 40 years of carpentry experience! Well that changes everything! Why didn't you just say so up front? I guess those metal working engineers over at Ford have a thing or two to learn from you.

I didn’t get indignant with you. I didn’t claim to be anything that I’m not, such as an engineer. I simply claim to use my vehicles to their maximum abilities In my profession And recreation. Within legal limits as stated by the manufacturer engineers. If thats to much for you so be it. Put a bed cover on yours and haul barbies for all I care.

I currently have a iKamper mini on my F150 which could fit on the maverick. Found a mini fiberglass slide in truck camper weighing in at 750 pounds . Still researching. Haven’t seen anything on center of gravity calculations yet.

But I’m more inclinedto build a slide in that fits in the bed and allows the tail gate to shut. The option would be to hinge the rear like a clamshell tent that would extend the back 2 feet so the floor is 6.5 feet for sleeping and the low cab over is storage. And keep it under 500 pounds.

Project M from four wheel campers would be easily the best. Under 450 pounds and just build it out as you like

It's been a few months, but when I asked at 4WheelCampers I was told that they had no plans to build a Project M for Maverick. Of course, if enough folks ask.....
