It also looks like things turned bad after some fluid changes too.

Just picked my 22 up from having my transmission replaced. 99k miles. I called Ford and they were way more helpful than I could ever expect withnowarranty. They trimmed $3500 off . Ended paying $4,300.

That's not true. Even in the late 90s when I was working in a transmission shop, eventually the owner ran the numbers and for certain transmissions it was more profitable to install a Jasper reman let them deal with warranty coverage then it was for us to take it on.
The way I see it, they like to put more gears into a smaller box, and need to install the filter deep inside, which makes it unserviceable.
This makes it unwise to service fluid too often, since it's impossible to change the dirty filter.
Seems to me, the best way to look at it is either trade before the manual says to service, or service once at around 100k, then deal with the slippage until it quits...

Did you get a brand new transmission? Would love to see the work order if possible.

Filter location in FWD Ford vehicles is unique and generally unserviceable. Not true on RWD.
I change all Lubrication Fluids once a year and never more than 20000 miles on then Transmission. My Fusion is an AWD 2.0 L Ecoboost. 5 qts+ and filter for the Engine,4-1/2 qts for the Trans, 1 qt PTU, 1+ QT Rear Axle. I do it all at home myself. Total Cost -$200. or less depending Motorcraft sales.
We typically drive 5000 miles per year. I also have Bumper to the Bumper Extended warranty.

I assumed they'd come with a non serviceable trans filter, but not sure...
Canāt trust the dealers. I had a buddy who worked for a dealer in sales. Had his maintenance done by the dealer and they forgot to fill the trans fluid back up after a drain. His tranny blew apart after about 20 miles on the highway. Lucky enough he got them to replace the whole car with an upgraded model on the dealers dime. Pretty much picked from the lot. The tech was fired after being on the job for 3 months.

If the basic vehicle is FWD - cross the vehicle engine mounting - they filter is not serviceable without separating the trans from the engine.
