I had a recall service yesterday with my dealer for the latest towing recall. I am sharing because there is something new happening and I thought you all should know about it.
My dealer set a remote service all, where they were going to come to my home to fix the issue. It was for yesterday. The remote service guys were running behind, so the dealer had a backup guy call me and ask me if I would still be there in an hr and he was coming out. During the conversation, he discovered in their computers that the service had already been complete by Ford over the air, and the dealer had not been informed.
So here is the bottom line, Ford can perform these fixes over the air, but they are not marking it as completed, so you dealer doesn't know and may contact you for a service call you don't need. My dealer has seen this happen several times in the last few weeks, and are submitting reports to Ford to correct and close these recalls.
Hope this info helps.

I have a 23 that just had this done via the mobile service. Took about 30 minutes. Nice tech. We BS'd a bit while the upgrade was running.

Thank you Ichaya! My update also came OTA and my dealer did not know until I mentioned it. I still went in for my free oil change however.

Last I heard trailer issue update "over the air" is only available for 25's and 26's. Anything prior has to be done by the dealer.

Hum, so if you still have the MY24 shown in your profile, I'm pretty certain your dealer is reading something incorrectly. MY22-MY24 can only get OTA updates for the audio system. MY25 and later do have the capability for other OTA updates beyond the audio system. Your dealer needs to send a mobile tech to perform the update or you take it into the dealer for the update.

22-24 lariats have Sync 3 that is capable of over the air updates. I just turned on Wi-Fi, auto update and searched for updates in my 24 Lariat. It said no updates found. Can anyone with a 22-24 Lariat confirm an OTA fix for the recall? If so can you post up a pick of the latest software version?

24 and older models can not get this recall done OTA. For a while, even my dealer could not do my 24 Lariat even though 25 and 26 vehicles were getting the patch. Ford finally figured out how to do the earlier models.

MY22-24 with Sync 3 audio can get OTA updates only for the audio system and "I think" navigation updates. Only the MY25 and later can get OTA vehicle system updates/patches like the towing recall fix, etc.
