Tonneau cover leaking

I have a ford dealer installed tonneau cover. I had water in the bed, they had Ford give me a replacement cover. After five weeks of waiting they replaced the cover. We had heavy rain last night, now leaking worse than the old cover.

Is this the dealer issue or are ford covers this bad?

Don't expect a completely dry bed with a tonneau cover. Yeah, there are exceptions, but not the rule. And the ones that are have usually had extra sealing material added - stuff that most dealers (or their accessory installers) just won't take the time to do.

An SUV might've suited your needs better.

Wow is that their hard tri-fold? My RC soft tri-fold doesn’t leak that bad unless I go through a touchless car wash.

It's likely that it was installed improperly. I have a Ford soft tonneau, put it on myself, without even using the weather stripping and it stays dry in the bed, through heavy rain - driving and parked facing up and downhill. Have used soft tonneaus for 20 years with little to no water intrusion.

hahaha sorry every time i hit the "post reply" button it said message not sent but it apparently sent 3 times. ok fair enough. i have a dealer installed one that will be installed if the truck ever gets here and i fully expect to have to take it off and re install it myself

My guess is either Ford or the dealer did not install the cover correctly. I had the same issue with my Ford Ranger. In fact the tri-fold on that truck was too far forward and started to rubb off the paint on the vertical side of the cab housing. All I had to do is move the tonneau cover backwards by about 1/2 inch and voila, no more leaks.

I can understand water around the corners just because of the tailgate openings and there will be excess build up of water at the front but anything in between is an issue.
