To PPF or not to PPF: this is my question.

A local tint shop (586 Tint Factory) is offering to do a full frontal PPF application on our Steve Trucklet: full hood, full front fenders, mirror caps, painted bumper surfaces and all front light glass for $2k and they'll do ceramic on the rest of the truck for another $1k. 10 year warranty against product defects, cracking and yellowing. They have over 600 reviews and none under 4 stars...but three large is an investment into a product that I know little about. What say you, members of the MTC: pull the trigger or let it slide? TIA

I don't know if that is a good price for the services or not, but IMHO "my" truck is not worth that kind of money to maintain its appearance. If we were talking about a new 911, definitely.

I love seeing all the mods for show (and for "go") around here, but I just bought a lil' truck to drive around and do stuff with. I'll wash it, park as carefully as I can, and I have touch-up paint ready to go. I hope it is a LONG time before I rack up 10% of the truck's value in mods/maintenance. :)

For the cheapest vehicle Ford sells in America? Hard pass for me.

It's not an expensive vehicle and it's not a collectible.

I did nearly the same PPF as described (nor FULL hood or fenders, but leading 12-15") by myself for about $500-600 and my time. The mirrors were the toughest because of the rounded shapes. I am pretty happy with the results and feel it has saved the front end from road chips...

I'm going with the ceramic coating and probably the AVS Bugflector II and call it good enough. 😬

For the cost of a full PPF wrap I figured I could just repaint if it was really bad before trading in. But it is a truck and gets used as a truck so I expect it will end up looking like a truck eventually.

$1500 for Expel Ultimate partial hood, fenders, full bumper and mirror caps. Plymouth, MI. I don't feel you need the full hood/fenders. Good luck to you.

I bought my 2022 Lariat ecoboost a few months ago and it came with the bug deflector and the window deflectors as well as the 1st edition graphics. I just had my little beast ceramic coated which included all the glass and so far couldn't be happier @ $900. But that's it for me

Hell naw, you could just repaint it for that cost.

first of all, ceramic coating over ppf in general is a joke / scam / rip-off thing to do. I'm sure that given enough views of this thread, someone will reply that they have it and love it, and a detailer will try to justify the 'service'.

any 10 year warranty is a joke. statistics say that the average maverick owner will have their truck under 5 years before selling or totaling it. and, just try to make a claim against that warranty even if you do own it.
That seems very expensive. I personally wouldn’t do it.
second, is this. $2k for ppf on just the areas mentioned is high. get more quotes if that's really the coverage you want, but IMHO on a maverick all you really need is front bumper cover and leading edge of the hood.

I know I'd do it and I'd see every flaw and do it over and over and I'd probably spend too much time on it...and I admire you DIY-ers who can get it right the first or second time...this is a toughie for me. I hate chipped noses, and I know it's inevitable if I don't do something proactive!

I did the front of my truck for about $100. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Added the bug deflector as well.

I had the full front of our Mav done for 2k in Expel. Full hood, front bumper, full fenders, mirror caps, headlights. I have had “partial” panels done before but I don’t like the line. Always traps and holds gunk and is a visual spot of texture change the bothered me. This is the first brand new vehicle we’ve ever owned and I wanted to keep it nice, and the Mav is known to have thin paint. Not interested in re-painting later. It’s about $500 a panel at local body shops to do a very basic repaint. No thanks. We don’t get the beating sun here in Northern MN either, and PPF tends to last a LONG time. Easily passed 10 years.
