The appeal of the Maverick is the simplicity, utility, economy, and fun factor.

A couple of things that would have kept it in line with this and keeping a maker's car is, a double-DIN radio and a manual transmission.
Hybrid and manuals aren't compatible.

Why do you want a double DIN radio? So you can put an aftermarket 7" touch screen in it?

Come on....

Many women, including my wife, prefer manual transmissions.

That said, electric vehicles and hybrids, which are the future, don't need manual transmissions. Many (most or all?) EVs don't even have transmissions, which makes for a really nice driving experience.

If I were buying an ecoboost, I'd want a 6-speend manual transmission. But since I'm buying a hybrid (at last that's the rumor), the eCVT is the best fit. Neither my wife or I would buy a conventional ICE vehicle with an automatic transmission if we could avoid it.

In short, one size doesn't fit all.
Not just the best fit - the eCVT is the fit. There is no way to make that a manual.

That's right. Hybrids and EVs already solve for the 2 main arguments in favor of a manual transmission: efficiency and reliability.

Driving engagement is the primary argument, but whatever. I wasn't expecting it with the hybrid, the manual should be paired with the EB.

In fact, I'm buying a hybrid, I get that it needs the eCVT. But I'm not dead yet either, and if someone wanted to make a more engaging vehicle, I was simply offering a suggestion.

Ford put one in the Bronco, and they had them in the Focus ST. Some of us just like them, EVEN if impractical.

You're all about screen size, eh? I like premium audio and if the B&O offered some better tone control and better sound, I would be happy. But being stuck with shit and no ideal upgrade path sucks. Sure I can (and will) add DSP and other items, but I like to keep my vehicles a while and hate being stuck with aging technology.

And you can get much larger screens than 7" these days.

I've got the floating 9 inch sony in my Tacoma. Thought it was be awesome but it just kind of blocks the HVAC vents.

I suppose I can get the desire for better sounds but I just think the Maverick is what it is and I think it's pretty perfect.

Fellas if there was any kind of demand for a manual, they would make it. Fact is there isn’t. This is proven by the fact no manuals exist anymore.

Gone with corded phones, tape players, and corded drills.

I understand the manual is dead. I truly enjoy driving them, but I don't necessarily want a weekend toy for a quick thrill. The upcoming Acura Integra would suit that need, or a Civic.
But yeah, the demand is low.

By the interest in self-driving features, it would seem that most would prefer to delve into infotainment and other media while in their cars. Things are moving fast.

Honda has had a few models.
They did. They early 00s Civics were awful to drive - my cousin had one I spent extensive time in. The gas mileage on it was subpar for a hybrid.

The CRZ is the most recent which is now 6 years ago and it got 31/38 in manual mode. I guess I should have said the type of hybrid Ford uses would not be compatible.

There is a reason Honda's (or anyone's for that matter) was 6 years ago and it had average gas mileage by ICE engine standards for the size of it.

Those Honda hybrids are a totally different set up from Fords. Those hybrids have a single electric motor that only assists the engine and also matches RPMs with the ICE engine. It's an assist system only.

Ford (and Toyota's) have two electric motors in the eCVT allowing the dual power sources to work separate or together and provide capabilities well beyond the Honda system. This is a FULL hybrid.

Yeah, the Jeep Gladiator based Ram truck is what I was originally hoping for. But now I love the look of the new Maverick.
Jeep gladiator is based off of the wrangler jlu platform. Shares nothing with the ram it's even more expensive then a ram 1500. Only thing going for it is you can get it in a 6 SPD manual.
