The Stock primacy is quiet and feels great. No issues but they wore down fast.
I will admit it may be me and my twisties.
In general OEM tires don’t last as long as the same named non-OEM version.
Sometimes it is because the OEM starts with less depth, sometimes it is a slightly different compound.

Bit agreed those Defender 2s look good. I am doing to remember those when I need replacements.

1/32" or 2/32" less tread & compound may help 0.0nnn mpg in rated cafe test results.

Michelin Defender 2 would be my choice. I've had them in the past any they are excellent tires.

If I could get a Michelin LTX in my size, I would be extremely happy...had a set on my F150 and they were phenomenal.

Have sold computer to tire stores in the past and always check, and re-check with knowledgeable customers to get the scoop on best tires. Decided to bite the bullet and get what I was told was the best tire for traction, longest wear, and best handling. Have a Hybrid.

Went with the Michelin Defender ($1,070 installed) and got a surprise:
Defenders are about 1 pound heavier than the stock OEM Continentals.
OEM Continentals had a life of 35,000 - I was consistently getting 43.8 mpg.

Michelins handles better than OEM Continentals but MPG was disappointing - dropped to 38.8 mpg
My tire dealer felt the added weight and very tall tread patterns was the cause of mpg drop. But I should get 80,000 miles out of the Michelins. BUT MICHELIN DEFENDER 2 provides bad MPG.

Check the inflation. Can make quite a difference.
I shan’t say more than that.

Same size as OE?

I went with the Nokian Outpost APT in 245/65R17 (up in size from the factory 225/65R17). They're advertised as an "all purpose tire" for crossovers, SUVs, and light trucks. From my research it seems to be a popular concept in Europe - a blend of an all terrain and all season tire. I noticed a slight drop in MPG but I attribute that to the tires being larger and more aggressive than those from the factory.

Mich Defender 2 are 4 lbs heavier (28) than the Conti. PC TX. That's about 17% heavier un-sprung weight. The Defender 2 is a superior tire but doesn't make sense for me since I use Mich. X-ICE SUV snow tires. I actually like changing summer tires every 4-6 years.

For those who drive healthy miles and want 1 tire all year long, the Defender 2 (80k) is the tire to get. I think for myself, I want something close to OEM, like a 50k mile tire.

Here is my ~50k on-road summer only use-case list:

Continental ProContact TX (OE)
Michelin Primacy A/S (OE)

Yes

I did, put it up to 39 psi and it made it worse. Now back to 34 and back to 37-38 mpg
Tire weight (Falken Wildpeak AT Trails - 235s) is killing my efficiency on my 25 AWD Hybrid. Was at 34mpg and now I'm around 28mpg. Hoping that improves a little with warmer temps.

The Falken brand is a Sumitomo owned tire brand...not necessarily a bad thing, mind you as my Dunlop Winter-Maxx SJ-8's are made by Sumitomo as well. Just know what you are buying.

Yeah, it's not a tire I've seen mentioned much in hypermiling conversations.
