You’ve liked the OEM Michelins, they have worn well, and provide your Maverick with capabilities to climb your roads better than any other AWD suv your neighbors have.

why change?
The Stock primacy is quiet and feels great. No issues but they wore down fast.
I will admit it may be me and my twisties.
15,000 miles and I’m just outside the yellow zone on my tread depth gage at 7/32 actually very close to 6/32 tread depth. I will be in the yellow within 2,500 miles. I’ll have to ease up in the wet turns.
I’d like to get 30,000 miles on a set or more.

I got 30,000 on my Yokohama Geolandar G015’s on my 21 Bronco Sport.
They are my fall back.

I’ve narrowed it down to three,
Yoko’s,
Defenders and the Firestone Destinations.

I’ll obsess and compare the crap outta those.
Thanks guys.

Yokohama is a decently priced option - this one is on closeout at Tire Rack, is XL rated, but at 34lbs per tire, are close in weight to the BFG's....

. . .
The original tread depth was 10/32. So you only have 3/32 wear on them. The stock Michelin tires are good for 60k, as marked on the sidewall. That's to the 2/32 tread depth that is recognized as worn out and the depth of the treadwear indicators. I'm not sure why you're measuring to 7/32 unless you're trying to use a 3-season tire as a snowtire or you like deep water.

I have a 2022 lariat hybrid the oem primacy had 8.5/32 new. The replacement primacy came with more tread. I got 38k miles on the OEM and replaced with Continental true contact tour 54 eco+. Well pleased with them 70k mile rated. I got the stock size 225/60 R18 due to weight but almost switched to 10% heavier 235/60 R18.

I want an all season,
I want light as possible,
Open tread blocks if possible,
Super quiet is a priority,
Best hydroplaning resistance,

Cost means nothing to me, within reason, I’d like to stay under a grand.

Penny for your thoughts guys ?
Before the penny vanishes, I’ll feel silly saying, ‘Nickel for your thoughts.

Whatcha running that your dead sure you’ll replace with the same tire ?

I don’t need the big tire look but I want to go to 235 wides from my 225/60R 18’s
Just for a bit more rubber on the road.
I am extremely happy with the Michelin Defender 2. I run them on my Maverick and my Transit Connect. We get enough snow in the winter that I use Michelin Ice-X from December through mid-March, but most of the time the Defender would be plenty of tire.

I was asking earlier about the Defender 2 in the snow as I'm in SE Michigan (metro Detroit area) and we get our fair share of snow. Looking to replace the OEM Michelin Primacy A/S on our 23 Escape Hybrid. We haven't had any issues with the Primacy in the snow and I would assume the Defender 2 would be at least just as good in the snow.

I did see some comments on online on other forums saying the Defender 2 has a rough ride and tends to wonder on the freeway but I only saw that mentioned a few times. Our Escape has 18" wheels and seems a little rough at times with the Primacy's it came with but maybe it's because of the 18" wheels and our garbage roads here in MI, lol.

Check out Continental true contact tour 54 eco+. I run mine at 37.5 PSI. Excellent on highway and dirt roads. The channels are great with no hint of hydroplaning, supposedly excellent in snow but in four years hasn't happend near Austin Texas. Weighs 26.3 lbs and the 235 weighs just over 29 lbs. Significantly cheaper than defender 2's. No noticeable mpg difference from the OEM Primacy.

I have 35,000 miles on my Defender 2's on my 2024 Maverick and they are going strong with lots of tread left and still grip well. I put them on my Camry hybrid as well and have over 30,000 miles on these with no complaints.

I just got the Defender 2 and they ride amazing plus I've noticed my average gas mileage has gone up to 46 mpg. I had my tires rotated a lot and had the Continental for 55K on my 2023 XLT.
I really like the Defender 2 but I'm also in Florida so it may be different for your location. Good Luck!

The one time I didn't put on Michelin Defenders on one of our two cars, I immediately regretted it. The decrease in ride quality and increase in noise were noticeable. That's what I'll put on my Maverick and my Subaru next time around.

I had a ‘22 Mav Lariat with 18” Primacy and we have a ‘23 Escape with 18” Primacy. What you are feeling is not the tire. It is the short wheelbase of the Escape. My ‘22 road great. You’d be surprised how much the wheelbase length matters. If you don’t like the Escape’s, don’t drive a Bronco Sport. When we got our ‘23 Escape, to replace our ‘20 Escape, we seriously looked at the BS, I couldn’t handle the ride or the fact that we had to get a Badlands to get the 2.0.
