My DD, i run 2PSI under what Ford requests for my EcoSport - 33psi - The tires are wearing evenly and with 40,000 miles have 7/32 still left on them. 205/55/17 - if I run them at 35PSI the centers will wear out faster. The best way to check inflation is after driving a while if possible use a laser temp and measure inside/middle/outside of tread to see if temp is even
I maintain the factory pressure and rotate every 5k along with an oil change got 52k on speedo with factory tires when I traded it in.

This reminds me I need to replace the air in my tires. Always a good idea for preventative maintenance... That winter air is cold.
My truck has Nitrogen filled tires

There seems to be a lot of misconception of what maximum tire pressure is. As tire pressure changes, side wall flex changes. The change in side wall flex changes the spring rate of the tire. When the tire pressure is increased above the maximum pressure the spring rate no longer changes.
Side wall flex is about ride quality!!! 👍

For others reading that who aren't aware of tire pressure things (like thinking the tire label is the pressure to use) and new to the car world - you do NOT check inflation after driving a while.

Check inflation cold. Just like the manual says.

I think you mean, to check the effects of your tire inflation level ...
Which is a good idea, I'd add high speed too.

You have a dealer who needs their dealership taking away from them. Take your Mav back to that dealer and have them actually do the PL/PD work. Having the tires still at shipping pressure means that they probably never checked fluid levels, checked the lugnut torque, checked that everything actually works, and a whole host of other items that take several hours before you get the vehicle. You're going to love it when it blows up or loses a wheel because they never did the work that Ford paid them for.

Ok, this makes sense that Ford was over-inflating for some reason.
I was told a long time ago by mechanic who did a lot of new car prep that tires were "overinflated" to cut down on flat spotting of tires while in transport. Makes sense to me...

Ok, but do we know why the factory is putting in the maximum pressure, and why the dealership doesn't let some of the pressure out before we pick up our trucks?
They are supposed to do that. It is part of dealer prep. Sadly, many dealerships don't do that, among other things on the prep list.

Is there a thread with all the things the dealer is supposed to check before delivery? Did a search but couldn't find one. Pretty sure all I got was a tank of gas..
