Happy New Year - the Year of the Maverick:)

The Maverick has recently won numerous accolades & awards from the press - and 2026 will bring new & prospective owners to the forum. Any advice for them? I’ll start:

1. Learn to use the search function. **hit the little google icon next to “search” for better answers** There is most likely an incredible amount of useful info available on any question you may have. Absorb that info and follow up with questions if necessary?

Now there will be unique issues with the new 2026 models that SHOULD be asked. Like “where is my spare tire” or “how do I use fix a flat” and the inevitable “what is this NEW recall all about”?

Any other tips for new folks that would be helpful?

2) Read the Manual - JMJB

3) Post unsourced AI at your own risk -AI

4) Post Pictures - Cherokee

5) Use the “google” icon next to the “search” button for better results - First Sergeant

6) Lock your driver door carefully - Various

7) Check the “similar threads” at the bottom of each thread page - OleFordGuy

8) Be patient with noobs & geezers - DaddyDan, Cherokee

9) Edit or Delete your post by clicking on the “…” at your post’s bottom

10) Don't leave your sense of humor at the door - SP1966

11) If you just discovered the Maverick - be prepared to be called a rock dweller:) Don’t take it personally!

12) See post #92 from HeyBales for helpful advice on setting up your forum status info.

Very Eloquently put old man! Just kidding, I’m older than you, I think. 🤔 This post will self destruct in 24 hours. Wait , how do I do that again? 🔍

Very good post! I would only add that the search function on occasion will take a union break I asssume and not find anything, even simple bits of information. I will then Google it and Lo and behold! Up pops several Maverick Truck Club links! Easy peezy.

Yep - I’ve queried AI & it refers to forum posts here where I have expressed opinions.

Groucho Marx once said something like “he’d never join a club that would accept him as a member”…

New Member Tip#2 - Take AI answers to Maverick questions with a grain of salt before posting them here;) At least a grain.

I’m still a noob:)

Wish I knew some forum mechanics & stuff as I began posting - although many members were very patient & helpful!

That's because the search function on this forum SUCKS. Google is better.
Once you start a thread with a question on the forum. You might get threads below that may answer your question.
So ask anyway. Some of use aren't bothered by it.

I agree. The seach engine doesn't dial down to your specific request. No matter how detailed your question is. The seach engine just shows you all 1,000 answers.

I just learned a trick from First Sergeant!

I went to search “oil change” and hit search….1000 non helpful posts

But when I hit the little “google” icon next to the search - jackpot!
Showed several OPs “when to change your oil…hybrid, EB, etc etc” yay!

Then there’s the new guys who evidently cannot READ !!!
it’s called an owners manual.
AND I got a real paper hold in my hand owners manual with my 2024 !

But alas, I think it’s all on screen or online.
So !
Grasshoppers,
Ask away :XD

My owners manual spent its first two months on the back of the toilet.

Many of us old farts do our bestest learning while on the crapper.
Learned a few things, not much but enough.

Seems these youngers all have shit for brains and cannot write a proper owners manual !!!

The first HALF is Lawyer speak and safety warnings. The next quarter has some good data. And the last quarter is maintenance schedules that no body follows.

All you need is in there, NOT !

Seriously, this forum is very helpful and very comical.

Oh ! almost forgot !
We want pictures !
Of the truck, the dog and any toys you buy.
Errr, toys for the truck , not,, err nevermind.
