What will you replace your Maverick with, I’m in Washington too, who was your dealer?
I don't know what I'll replace it with. Or if I will. Everything is expensive. 😂

Bowen Scarff was the dealer I bought from and who FIXED the issue. Evergreen Ford in Issaquah is the one that caused it.

Second, you're trading based on fear but turning a blind eye from what you know (some mavericks -- not yours -- have had CV joint issues, and there have been a few annoying but not terribly consequential recalls) to something you don't know... a truck that's 3 years older, has 4x the miles, may have had significant issues, may have been neglected mechanically, hell, maybe had been in an accident or flooded... who knows? Why did the PO get rid of it?
The 2019 deal didn't get done because I backed out of it. What I did get was a well-optioned 2020 Ranger Lariat with 33K miles. I also improved my trade-in value by $2500. We paid the difference in cash, no debt.

I think this post, like SO many others out there on car forums, is just a case for the original poster to justify in his or her mind a transaction that they suspect isn't really the best or needed, but just something they want to do. And I'm not saying that's wrong, or that getting a Ranger is a mistake. (unless you're one of those people that serially trade in cars and get deep and deeper into debt, which is a whole other thing).

So, enjoy the Ranger and don't worry that you're letting down all of us Maverick owners who, for the most part, are enjoying thousands and thousands of flexible-use, high mpg, trouble-free miles. Cheers.
Need? No, not at the moment. But the drive home in the Ranger reminded me why I like having a body-on-frame truck. It took 3 years of owning the Maverick to conclude that, while it is great at what it does, the Ranger will work better for me.

Every vehicle change carries risk of the unknown, as did the Maverick, being a first year model. The recalls were, on a couple of occasions, a bit more than annoying because of the vehicle downtime or the dealer-inflicted additional visits needed to get everything right. Nevertheless, trading it in was not an impulse decision; it's one that's been percolating for a while. And now it's done.

I understand the op misgivings as the owner of a 22 hybrid that has been at ford 12 plus times for recalls, service bulletin flashes that improved drivability for the grabby brakes, a failed sensor that was replaced. Have had multiple issues with battery not allowing remote start thru app. They always just say they found nothing. Its always in The winter. They did supposedly do a cable overly for battery although visually doesn't appear they actually did that. but now that they extended warranty for that recall issue im just going to replace battery with agm and not sweat it. Truck seems to be good now other then backup camera that has always been that way I just it to see if a small child is behind tailgate then i turn my head. Only owe 12 grand on mine, no point of trading for trucks i like better then the mav and those are fee s and far between and cost over 60 grand and the interest rates are a joke, my truck is 3.9 percent i looked at one that was 8!

Def worth considering an ESP for the Ranger, 56k is right at the end of the powertrain coverage. If you have any symptoms of a bad transmission (more common than it should be on the 5Gs and is a major reason I got rid of my ‘21 XLT a few months ago) it’ll be worth the money. Hop on over to the Ranger5G forum to see what you’re getting into.

It's a Shadow Black Lariat Supercab with a veteran plate.

I switched up which Ranger to buy. The 56K one was a 2019 XLT, but I ended up with a 34K mile 2020 Lariat. Same tranny, though, and the 5-year mark is coming up sooner than later so I will be getting an extended warranty. I'll also check out the forum.

I'll just add in my $.02. Clearly this transaction works out well for the dealer, as he's offloading one vehicle, getting in another he can markup and resell, and he's getting some cash on the hood, too. So that should tell you something.

The CV axle thing is my greatest concern. Some have claimed the truck is basically undrivable and almost impossible to keep on the road with how bad it is. Others have said no, it's pretty mild but you notice it. Does it feel like the shudder the mavericks used to do prior to that software update way back when?.

This is a terrible trade lol. This is definitely a guy who just couldn’t get over the fact he drove a crossover pickup rather than a body on frame truck. My advice since you posted publicly? Stop caring what others think about what you drive and just drive it.

I was going to suggest that he check pricing on small tractors: if a person really needs to plow snow, it's super likely a tractor can do it and won't destroy your frame. (which WILL happen on any truck. it's just how quickly / how badly it'll bend.)

if a person doesn't need to plow their own private drive, then forget all about it. plowing is not something you do as a hobby like driving for lyft.

My Maverick has been pretty reliable but I can't ignore all the issues people have had as they accumulate miles or the endless stream of recalls. Not to mention, how easily these trucks seem to get totalled from what should have been minor accidents. I've also had occasion to find the bed length confining lately and I miss being able to plow my own driveway. So, I'm throwing in the towel.

On Saturday, my 15K-mile 2022 Maverick XLT Lux will be traded in on a 56K-mile 2019 Ranger XLT extended cab that was ordered with all the goodies (and then some) that the Maverick has. I was able to strike a deal that required making up only a $1677 difference in the OTD bottom line. I'm happy with that.

The concept was brilliant and the design was perfect for the niche it occupied. It's too bad Ford didn't take a bit more time to give it the polish and durability it deserved.

I have an XL, i still think mine is a great value for what it is.

It may not like whiskey wrinkles as much as an on-frame truck. So i bought some nokian studded winter tires that hopefully will last a long time (mounted on the stock steelies, have the continentals mounted in nicer rims)

I do like them rangers though, but i think where im at in life the maverick will be fine... also will make a good hand me down to my 13 year old boy eventually... yhen im getting a truck that has a frame where i can mount a snow plow
