Turns out I didn’t know you could move the headrest forward and backward. Mine was angled forward (for the past almost three years) and I assumed that’s just how it was designed. It was a bit annoying at times, but I dealt with it. Today, while stretching, I accidentally pulled on it and discovered that it can actually be adjusted.

So, if you weren’t aware either, now you know!

What trim level do you have xl, XLT or Lariat. I see in your signature you have FE lux.
I have not heard of that one.

Thank you for the clarification.
I own a 2023 hybrid XLT lux headrests are not adjustable other than up and down.
Obviously a Lariat option as equipped

Us lowly XLT & xl owners....

....aren't privy to the luxuries of Lariat owners.

Have a 24 Lariat.... Would like mine back maybe one notch. Will have to see adjustability is still there or it is another of the many items from the early Mav's that has been dropped. grrrrr.

Yup, ratchet is still there... But, it appears that mine is all the way back already. However, since the top of the headrest is tipped forward, I raised the head rest one notch, thus my head now hits lower and father back than before. Did not have the keys when I went out to the garage, will see if it still works when I straighten the seat a little more. thanks.....

Is it possible to put the tilting headrest from the older Lux package into the seats of a '25 Lariat? I find the stock headrests sit too far forward and allow absolutely ZERO ability to tip your head back. I'd love to be able to adjust the front-back angle. Or does the tilt headrest require a mechanism built into the seat to function?

So since there were no responses, I went ahead and ordered a 2024 Tremor black Active-X 4-way tilt headrest from the bay of E. It fits properly and click-stops appropriately. It sits a bit straighter up than the stock 2025 Lariat Active-X headrest, but you can just tilt it forward if you want (which I VERY much DO NOT). HOWEVER, the headrest is slightly less bulky and it allows your head to fall back just a little bit more than the stock 2025 headrest as well. So with a little adjustment to the seat back and lumbar support I'm happy for the moment with the new headrest.

Stock headrest on passenger seat, Tremor tilt headrest on driver seat. You can see just how far forward the stock headrests are. I'll never understand how anyone that sits with an upright posture can tolerate most Ford headrests... I had the same issue with the Transit vans. If you tip the seat WAAAY back they're fine, but I don't like driving like that.

Great solution.

And wow terrible compare, when can you see it, didn't realize that much difference. I just knew it didn't feel like it hit right.
I sure hope Ford is not thinking the average driver has long arms and shorter legs - or enjoys the recline when driving.

The headrest is supposed to be positioned with the top level with the top of your head and as close as possible to the back of your head. They reduce whiplash injuries when they are positioned like that. The Lariat headrest has front-to-back adjustments to get it even closer to your head than the headrest on the other models. If you want it further away from your head then your insurance company is not going to pay up for whiplash injuries. I cringe when I think about the number of paralyzed drivers due to those super lowback seats in old Buicks where the headrest came to between your shoulder blades.

Not everyone's body mechanics are the same, taller folks will have more trouble than shorter folks. People that lean back will have less trouble than people that sit up straight. People with long necks may need more adjustments than those with no necks. The headrests as designed actually force my head to tilt slightly FORWARD and is exceedingly uncomfortable after some time. I can guarantee you that my Tremor headrest isn't going to be worse than my Lariat headrest for whiplash protection as I'm actually able to sit in a good position now... doubly so because I had removed the headrest entirely before or had it turned around backward.

The best protection is the one that gets used, even if it's not perfect.

without the seat way back, how are you supposed to keep your feet on the steering wheel?
