I actually think Ford did alright with the packaging of the XL, XLT, and Lariat because it gives folks a place to land comfortably based on what they want.

For a long time I was firmly in the XL camp for my Hybrid that never came but that changed when they disallowed the moonroof on the XL in 23 - then they told me to switch to EB.

I do not like the standard XLT interior so I would have likely stayed down in the XL but I sprang for the Tremor.

I find XLT + Lux to be an incredible value (at least for MY23) for the options that you get with it. I paid $31k for my truck and couldn't be happier. I enjoy the comforts it came with and don't want for the ones it doesn't have (I did add Lane Keep Assist via Forscan).

I hope everyone feels that way about their respective Mavs when they arrive.
Lane assist with ForScan? I'm guessing you already had the 360 package with the necessary hardware (mirrors, etc.)? I would love to do this but didn't go with the 360 package.

Nope - no CP360 for me.

Not Lane Centering - but Lane Keep Assist - uses the front mounted camera that every Maverick has.

You just need to buy a new turn signal stalk with the LKAS button ($60) and then modify your modules to turn it on.

Also turned on the speed sign recognition which i think is neat

The only reason I bought an XLT instead of an XL is cruise control. I commute 2 hours a day and really cannot live without cruise. It is coincidentally very good for MPG.
This is totally dependent on your driving behavior. Cruise control's purpose is to maintain a specific speed with the least amount of effort on the driver's part, not maximize fuel efficiency. If you don't have a lead foot, know how to utilize coasting, and especially drive often in areas with elevation changes, it isn't hard at all to manually be more fuel efficient than cruise control.

wait, if you have copilot 360 on the xlt, can you use forscan to add the assist package add on that Lariat gets?

My understanding is that lane centering requires adaptive cruise control so you would need to have that before you could attempt to add lane centering.

Lane Keep Assist - just nudges you and lets you know when you're too close to the line. It's actually really subtle in the Maverick and I enjoy it quite a bit. Helps take the edge off on a longer highway trip.

Ah that makes sense. Thanks!

XL vs. XLT is a question of economic efficiency. Keeping a new car a long time is the key to ROI. Just as with any investment. For example, I would be happy with an XL for 7 years but I'll be happy with XLT Lux for 12 years and beyond. If you're playing the long game, XLT Lux is the way to go, especially if you can use the seat/steering wheel heaters. If you're in a warm climate, skip the Lux. Also, consider resale of an XL vs XLT. Hands down, I'd rather resell an XLT.

If you really need a true poverty edition or luxury edition, then by all means go for it. Beyond that, it's XLT all the way.

I compared the two very carefully before placing my order and went with a 2024 XL (EB 4k tow and CP360). After the 2024 price increase, the difference is 3k and definitely not worth it to me. I'm not crazy about the XLT orange interior trim either. In 2023, the difference was only 1500 which I most likely would have ordered. In 2022, I would have definitely gone for the XLT since cruise control is a must have for me.
Exactly what I did and my line of thinking in '22. No regrets. Keeping it until I cant any longer.

** I did find a thread that was very close to this post that answered a bit so thanks in advance for anyone who reads but I will always appreciate ideas of you still want to give them!!**

I've read and understand the differences between an XL versus XLT, but I am curious with there's anyone here who regrets getting an XL? I currently have an XLT on order but after some interesting conversations at home there are some things I wanted to add but since I'm already scheduled I couldn't. So I've been looking at placing a second order but choosing an XL this time because the only things I really need are the 4K towing and the co-pilot. I'm not thrilled about how small the color choice became but the savings per month makes up for it. I think the loss of some other stuff seems worth it. Sure power locking tailgate would be nice but I don't know if I require it. And there's no more secure lock keypad so I'm not really missing that. A back seat drink holder isn't really something that I've ever needed before. I think the only thing that stood out is the XLT gets a perimeter alarm? And then the only other thing is that I would definitely want to change out the rims at some point, but I don't mind the steelies for now. I guess most of my question is about the interior at this point. I used to not like the black seats but they've kind of grown on me with the atlas blue exterior. But is there anything else that seems different or might be missing? Any thoughts or advice anyone has would be appreciated. Thank you!
I have the '22 XL, 100 percent pure base in carb gray w/ the black/blue interior and I have never regretted getting it just as it is. I almost couldn't believe what kinds of wacky interior choices you're stuck with if you get an XLT - who really wants some/most of those interior colors?

I considered a XL over the XLT in 2023, as there was little for the extra money. The biggest reason for the extra bucks was the mag wheels over the utility vehicle commercial steel wheels. The "factory" mags on the XLT must of been picked out by a goth teenage girl.

My Modus Operendi was to select some wheels from known great deals RackTire.com types. and remove the steel wheels. Depending on the delivery tires, I may or may not of used them. I may have gone to a larger diameter wheel and a lower tire ratio if new tires were decided. Then in either case taken one of the steel wheels and made it into a full size spare.. with a good used tire... enough to get you home, kind of thing.

Anyhow anything is better than those XLT mag wheels.

All though I no longer live in the North east. The 4 steel wheel could of been outfitted with snow tires for that middle December to middle of March slick driving season.

Everything else I need is on the XL- cruise, door locks, a radio, and so on.

On my current 22 year old pickup, I bought new, I had X-line do the bed at 7 miles and it looks great still.. I don;t need the rear slider- it's only large enough to pass a beer to the people in the bed, and that's frowned upon here in Kansas. Don't like a moon roof. I have one on my 13 year old car and never use it, or the car except for long trips, business, funerals and weddings. It would of made a great trade towards the Maverick as blue book trade in was still $12K and I'd probably get more in a private sale as being one owner.

I don't need the 4K tow package or anything HD, because my 22 year old truck will tow a back hoe. I'll be buried in that. I just don't need it to go to the barber shop or grocery store. I need that to pull a stock trailer and getting 5 sheets of 4x8 plywood or a pallet of landscaping bricks.
Then the Maverick would of taken me to the end. The car I have, sits way too low.. Maverickah, much higher and right at my liking. The Maverick is an economy car with an open trunk and not built in Asia.

Too bad FORD screwed up the ECO-Hybrid engine option for 2024.. I'm from Detroit, I'm not paying $10K over MSRP either--- for a overloaded Maverick the dealer has on his lot.
Or $1500 dock fee.. What bull crap..

2 reasons I'm not ordering. #1. UAW is on strike. #2. Jimmy Buffet is predicting a huge down turn 3rd quarter this year. I don't think I'm paranoid, I think I'll wait.. Besides the Dodge in Brazil is coming they claim and it's a diesel..
ah, you probably meant to say 'Warren Buffet' :} Jimmy was a better singer though....

I was all ready to order a silver XL AWD when I found out that the FX4 came with a steel skid plate. My property is full of stickers (in Texas), grass burrs or what ever you call them and those little bastards stick to the stock plastic/fiber skid plate like crazy! I should get half a dozen from a junk yard and drag’em around the place to help get rid of them. Oh, and the CG with the black FX4 wheels is dead sexy 😉

I doubt that cruise control helps with fuel economy unless your drive is down hill both going and coming. It DOES help avoid tickets though.
