If expecting a fair deal at MSRP from a dealer and expecting them to play by Ford's rules makes me an entitled cry baby then oh well.
As has been posted many times, Ford cannot tell the dealers what to charge. Franchise rules might differ some from state to state, but the dealers are independently owned. Supply and demand sets the price for dealer stock. You can't be for a free market economy and then cry about economics 101. Everyone who orders and has the patience to wait pays MSRP. Instant graticfication always costs more.

Those are good points. Instant gratification always costs more. Free market is the best economic model. I am willing to forgo instant gratification to pay a fair price. In the OPs case, it was the dealer who gave into instant gratification at the expense of customer service when another nearly identical Mav rolled in to stock. Why didn't the dealer go a little above and beyond and let the OP have the nearly identical Mav at MSRP and then sell the other one when it came in at what the market would bear. That was my point.

Dealer does not know what market will bear when OP's truck comes in. Dealer does not know IF OP's truck will come in.

Iseecars has published a list of new cars with the highest sale price over MSRP. The top ten are 2 Genesis models, 2 Porsche models, 2 Cadillacs, 2 Jeep Wranglers (#2 and #5), a Mercedes and a Lexus. In the top 50 cities 7 had Maverick as the highest over MSRP. The highest models over were Genesis, Cadillac and Wrangler.

How about that, guess just not Ford dealers screwing customers.

Of course we don't know if any of these other dealer customers have waited months to only to pay way over MSRP like the OP was expected to do.

Let me guess. He will not sell you one equipped just like your order, except the color for MSRP. It gets frustrating that they get trucks on the lot to sell, but leave customers who ordered hanging.
You know I was saving for a long time to buy a truck before I retire listening to all this horror stories I went to the dealer back in September and placed an order right of the bat they told me they charged 2,500 over msrp I thought about it and said can you put that on paper and they agreed to so I ordered it they could only order 4 it’s an XLT well 6 months later it’s been shipped so I called the dealer asked for a military discount to offset the 2,500 over msrp got 700 then I said I wanted to go and settle the invoice got there and they said who you financing with got the original invoice with Taxes and fees plus my add ons and told them no financing I’m giving you a check for what we agreed on little over 32k this dealers are really slick they sold one they had because the customer didn’t qualify for over 38K at least 7-8 K over Msrp the demand is so high for the Mavericks and they are taking full advantage you only have to use your head and do the best you can

not true , I want mine for work. It is perfect for what I need and I have no interest in making a quick buck, It will save at least what I can make on it in 2 years and I can write it off in my business.
It would make zero sense selling it.

No ,I do not expect that but I don't agree that they use their allocation of 80 trucks for stock and leave all their customer orders out of their priority list , which I strongly suspect is what's happening.
NO ONE IS GETTING "STOCK" ORDERS. Ford is NOT building any stock Maverick orders at this time. All the trucks on dealer lots are custom, retail orders that were refused by the ordering customer at time of delivery.

Now, do some dealers abuse the retail oder system to obtain "stock" inventory by getting fake "customers" to place orders with zero intention of buying the vehicles? Yes. But I have no way of knowing if that's the case here (most instances aren't) and regardless is a separate discussion.

Where did you hear this? Last I heard was the Ford was making EB models avaible as stock orders for dealers due to the dealerships demands for stock units. My dealer was selling stock units (blue window sticker).
There were a few Ecoboost stock units produced at the very end of the Model Year 2022 production run. Currently, the 2023 Maverick is being produced and Ford has not made any stock units to date.

I believe they announced recently they MAY produce some stock Tremor units and are allowing dealers to place orders since they have excess capacity for that trim level. However, I don't believe even any of those have been put into production yet.

My dealer has 3 trucks on the lot 5k over MRSP --one of them includes 3 "constraint" items -2 are identical to my order except color. This is not right.
Hate to say it . BUT . If your Mav isn't showing as being built right now I would advise to pay the 5 k and be happy or wait till 7/17 and order an ST 2024 :) and wait again but building starts 10 17

Have you gone and seen your priority code in person at the dealer. I have heard stories that the dealer is lowering the priority code on orders that are not for real customers and marking up the priority code on real orders. While there are no guarantees it increases the chance that a vehicle for markup will be built before a vehicle for an actual customer order. You are probably at priority 19 which is as low as you can go on the order totem pole.
