We’ve done it. We’ve now talked about everything possible about the Mav. Hahaha. Good question but I’d counter, what if parallel parking on a 1 way street, no matter which side the plate, one side of parking would be as you mentioned, not towards the street.

I dunno my guess is because the designers at Ford did it that way. Ford is having a live stream Q&A on Oct 6th HERE. Maybe they will answer if you ask.

I always thought it to be strange on the right hand side....my Jeep Wranglers have always had the plate on the left.

This has been discussed before but not to belittle the other many theories I am with those that believe that harmony with all is achieved by balancing the truck with both on the same side and also possibly not making perceived eye contact with the driver when admiring the plate from the front.

Truck tends to be conservative in its beliefs, therefore the lean to the right, simple as that!

Maybe the same reasoning as the on ramp to the interstates. Some merge right to left, some merge left to right….

Thinking on it on all my trucks with factory tow the plugs are on the left of the center line. The space was designated for such leaving the right of center for the plate.

Probably no reason at all, some vehicles have a single exhaust pipe on the right, some on the left, same with the radio antenna, the only one that gripes me is the fuel filler should ALWAYS be on the driver's side.
