Anecdotally, I know a lot of people who drive hybrids. Many of those hybrids now have significantly more than 100,000 miles on the battery. None of those people has ever replaced that battery. Even if you were super unlucky, and you did have to replace the hybrid battery at 120,000 miles, by that time, there's a good chance that the cost of a refurbished battery would be less than $1,000. Batteries get cheaper all the time.
i agree with you about batteries getting cheaper, look on ebay, you can get a battery from a wreck with all the plumbing for around $1000 bucks!

That's a foolish reason to sell. The HVB is a life-of-the-car part if undamaged and not abused. You'll rebuild the engine first, and it only runs 60% of the time.
My ICE only runs 41.74% of the time. You must use heat and AC a lot. 😂

Trip 2 has not been reset since I picked up the truck...

3499.3 (Total Kms) - 2062.4 (Electric Kms) = 1436.9 (ICE Kms)
1436.9/ 3499.3 = 0.4106 (or 41.06%)

Yes, they are replaceable. Cost determines the size of the battery pack. The difficulty of the work involved will be defined by the ability (and tools) of the owner. By the time you will need a battery change there will be a YouTube video on how to do it. I have a 2010 Honda Insight and the batteries are still good. However, . I love this guys videos!
He's that idiot that screams a lot.

The Maverick's battery pack might be a bit complicated on the labor side since it has the heating/cooling hookups for it. The battery pack on my Fusion is pretty easy to get at since it's all air cooled, just big and heavy. The Escape Hybrid and Maverick actually use a quite compact and light (56lbs) battery pack although the capacity has actually gone down.
The fact that it's climate controlled will prolong the life.

Well that second part, living in an area routinely over 100, puts me in a possible pending early battery failure, I guess.
Those that monitor their HVB report that at 113°F internal temp the Regen charge/discharge ceases and appears that ambient near 111°F is where that condition may happen. The HVB usage is controlled rather well, it appears, to limit the RATES of charge/discharge to maximize battery life.
