Whoa! o_OI may have just followed your advice a little too closely.:inlove:

I post here and I'm not having issues. Imagine how much I would post if I did have issues?

Collectively, a late model Maverick seems like the least of our worries. For the unlucky owners with lemons, let them be heard and justly warrantied.

Personally, I'm enjoying my DIY mechanic time off. This is a dream compared to the hoopties I drove for 25 years.
I’m coming from a 29 year old car. I agree. Just get in and go. No worries about if something else will fail on me this next time I turn the key.

I'm just having doubts lately. To put it into perspective, our maverick hybrid has been great for the last 18 months/10k miles, we love it. It's been flawless aside from some touchy brakes, and it doing the hybrid shudder a few times, both issues which have seemed to go away permanently after doing the relevant software updates.

But I have to say, seeing all the issues on the forums is starting to get to me. It doesn't help that my brother, who's a psychologist, says I'm very bad at what's known as catastrophizing. That's basically my brain running through worst case scenarios 24/7 and convincing myself they're gonna happen.

So I'm kind of at this crossroads, where my truck is basically perfectly reliable, and enjoyable to own aside from all the recall notices. Yet I'm becoming increasingly concerned that "any day now" I'm gonna have axle issues, or my truck is gonna die in traffic, or catch on fire. I want to go to my dealership and get the software updates done that were just discussed today to prevent the issue with mavericks randomly dying, but I'm worried those software updates will cause other issues, which seems to be the case with some owners.

I don't want to get rid of a truck that's been great to us. But at the same time, I'm tired of stressing over all the could happens. What would you do if you were me? Keep it, sell it, wait to see if it has issues?
I had a nightmare awhile back that I was driving down the road and the entire rear end fell out from under my truck. I have a hybrid so I have no rear end, which proves nightmares are not real. Most of the things you read about in this forum will likely not happen to you, but will cause an occasional nightmare.

The vehicle you replace it with could also have issues.

Keep your truck and enjoy the pleasures it provides. When it leaves you stranded by the side of a road….trade it or divorce it. There are plenty more around.
Bad analogy?

Drive it and enjoy. If it dies on the side of the road, set it on fire and ride back with the fire truck. Insurance lightening!!!

So yeah, you see these mushrooms and how they're changing colors? I had a bush come to life in all sorts of radiant colors that started dancing and talking to me and told me all about the intricacies of my childhood from age 6 to 18. Rather fascinating!

What you read here regarding the hybrid is from people who have problems. I had a 22 EB and now a 24 hybrid w/ 3k miles. Zero issues. Yes, the electronics are sometimes quirky in a "that's odd" way and I understand after reading this forum how it can create anxiety, but if you like your truck, keep it. Electronics in all new vehicles are the source of the most complaints. As someone else wrote, stop reading this forum since it creates anxiety.

I'd agree with many sentiments here, keep the truck and stay off the forums...OR, pay attention to the complaints and realize they probably don't apply to you.

There's all manner of people babying these trucks--using them once a month whether they need to or not, then complaining about the truck going into deep sleep mode.

People armed with a few minutes watching a YouTube video, and a laptop, and suddenly these shade tree mechanics are re-writing complex computer code for the truck. Yeah, the guy in the garage down the street is far more skilled and brilliant than the hundreds of software engineers who wrote the code in the first place.

People are not satisfied with the truck as delivered. So they raise the suspension. No wait, they lower the suspension. They change tire diameters and width--another thing carefully thought out by engineers. They were too cheap to buy the Lariat, but now they go out and try to make it a Lariat with all manner of aftermarket stuff. Just stay on the forums, tomorrow will bring something new!

Catching my drift here?

YOU probably have done nearly NONE of these things. You use the truck as delivered and intended and it has rewarded you with good service. Don't complain...life is good. Enjoy your Maverick.

It is easier to find fault with a vehicle than sing it's praises for most everyone I know. I'm gonna be positive in a negative world-that's my outlook on life lately. Other than one time my radio went dead one day for no apparent reason -then came back on the next restart and has been flawless ever sense-my Maverick has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. I'm old enough to have owned over 50 vehicles-so no small sampling-lol. With 3900 miles so far and great mpg and comfortable ride--what's not to love?

Do an experiment buy a $500 piece of garbage vehicle, drive it for a week. Then go drive your Maverick once. You will feel like you are driving the pinnacle of automotive excellence after that.
I had a $500 car, and I loved it. I'd love it even more in my adulthood if I had $40K to go spend on a top of the line VW GTI, preferably with a manual transmission, to use as my occasional "fun ride." However, I did go out and test drive one for shits and giggles. I spent 15 minutes behind the wheel before smiling a big shit-eating grin and saying to the salesman, "I'm going to end up getting arrested if I buy this." So yeah. I'm sticking with the Maverick.

For what it's worth OneAlienBoi, aside from a few weird radio glitches and phantom warning systems going off, I have no complaints about my EB Maverick XL. It's simple, no muss, no fuss. So we've had some recalls...BFD. Do some of us bitch about our Mavericks? Yeah, we do. But what unites us all is that we willingly agreed to buy a first year model vehicle, so that automatically makes every person on this forum slightly mental in their own special way. We don't need drugs. We don't need psychology. We all have one another.

Band of Brothers, man. You should watch it.
