About a month agowhen I went to a few Ford dealers to check out a Maverick, one of them said, "Oh, you mean a Unicorn?" He went on to say they call them that because no one at the dealership ever sees them.

I just got back from a 2000 mile roadtrip, mostly Route 66, Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest/Painted Desert, Canyon de Chelly. I love the area. I did not see a single Maverick on the road. Not one.

One observation I made was the bigger the truck the faster they were going. The big F250 Superduty monster trucks were always going 80-85 mph. I was thinking it was a cdertain mind set- the guy that has to have the biggest truck on the block, also has to be going faster than everyone else on the interstate. That, or anyone who can afford a Platinum F250 probably doesn't worry about mpg...or speeding tickets ( I did see a couple big trucks pulled over by AHP). I kept wondering what kind of mpg they get at that speed.

What's the mpg of the Maverick at 75-80 mph? I'm positive it's on a thread but thought I'd just throw it out there.

I've nicknamed my Maverick "Unicorn" last year after it seemed it would never get scheduled let alone built! Finally, scheduled, but not built! I do agree that even here in Tucson with over 500k residents I've only seen 1 hybrid, every other Maverick I've seen, at least 6-7, have all been Ecoboost models.

I saw my first maverick in the wild a couple of days ago...towing a trailer no less. Damn near missed my turn due to gawking for too long.

Spotting Mavs is a crapshoot. I’ve seen 3 in my area in 4 months and saw 2 within an hour in small Warrenton VA.

On a level road in 60 degree weather, my hybrid Maverick gets around 33/34ish mpg at 75-80.

My commute is probably 50% at 75 mph, 30% at 50-60mph and the rest is either bumper to bumper or 30-40 mph. Lifetime average (900 miles) is about 39.6mpg as calculated at the pump. Needless to say, I am very pleased so far.

I was getting around 29 doing 80-85 most of my 500 mile trip back from the dealer this past weekend. EB 2.0 with 4k

I passed two just today in Tulsa. An Area 51 and a white company truck with logo. I've probably seen at least five others.

I have only seen 2 so far. As far as gas mileage can't say yet still on the tank from the dealership 😁

One reason large trucks might drive fast is simply that they feel slow. My Miata felt like 100 mph at 30 mph in the twisties because you were so close to the ground with no top. A full size truck, sitting way up high, with all that bulk and sound proofing and premium interior? 100 mph probably feels like 30 mph.

EB AWD FX4. 4500 miles. 3500 are Highway avg 72-80 mph. Getting a consistent 30 mpg, 29 and change using A/C. Towed a u-haul for 350 miles with about 1200lbs total and it took it down to 23 mpg.

I live in a town of 20,000 in the middle of a county of 100,00 people, and I've seen three in town. Always shocking when I see one.
Then last week I saw a Santa Cruz. Yuk.
