First the unicorn part. I live in a town of 25,000 people. Since I received it in April of 2022 it has been the only one in town. It is a fun thing to have the only one. Quite a few looks and people approaching me in parking lots to ask about it. Now the one-month part: In March of 2022 I began looking for a vehicle to replace my company leased SUV which would go away upon my retirement in May. I had looked at purchasing a Honda Ridgelines but did not like the sticker price or bed depth. On a whim, stopped into the local Ford dealer to inquire about the Maverick and possibly look at one. The salesperson said there were none on the lot and I would normally need to order one with a 12 month wait time. But, as luck had it, someone had ordered one in September of 2021 and cancelled a week before I stopped in. The original buyer was an older gentleman in declining health and could not wait any longer so he bought a Ranger. I quickly did some more in-depth research on the Maverick and the next day put down a deposit on it. They also requested an additional $1,000 over book. Still a lot cheaper than a Ridgeline. My Maverick is an Alto Blue Lariat package. I read a lot of owners have been blacking out the trim. Personally, I feel a little chrome accent here and there gives a good contrast to the dark color. I came from and era when chrome was cool but it may be a bit too much for others. I could not be happier with the purchase. It fits my needs to a tee. We live in a wintery area of the country so the 4WD is missed. Plan on getting some good snow tires this fall.
