I bought my Maverick because I was looking for an old beat up truck to do my hunny-do's and manly things around the house. I had enjoyed my 50mpg Prius but I can't haul things in it without destroying the interior. The Maverick came out. I waited a year to see if any major issues came up. I decided to just get a new truck. The price was right and I am glad I got it. I have used it for hauling and picking up stuff and I get 45mpg in the city and 42 on the highway (I drive fast).

It was either the Maverick or an old beat up 1970's rusted truck. Got the Maverick.
an old 1970s truck or maverick? clearly
I was responding to your comment, claiming the Lariat trim went up $14,000 from the 22 MY to MY25. When you compare apples to apples, how do you get your numbers?
so, I'm just comparing it from the lowest trim, which is essentially the same truck to highest trim. I'm not comparing year to year. I paid 25k for my xlt hybrid. and 33k for a lariat. just comparing 25's

I have very little concerns with the quality of the assembly.
You shouldn't (despite the quality complaints on MTC). This truck's quality doesn't seem to be any better or worse than other Ford vehicles I've owned. And they were built in the US.

BTW, the Hermosillo assembly plant has won numerous quality awards, competing against other Ford assembly plants.

Okay, now I understand. Good luck to finding the right pick-up for your needs.

I'm hoping to get my $500 deposit back. I've decided against purchasing the Maverick Lariat with the BAP and Eruption package. While I can afford to pay cash, the final price of around $45,000 (including taxes) seems excessive for this vehicle...
Probably a smart move. $45k is a lot to pay for lipstick on a 20K-something pig. The cheap pig will probably not depreciate much, but the options certainly will.

FWIW, if you decide to buy a new one later, find a dealer that doesn't charge a deposit. Not all do, and Ford doesn't require it.

I feel like the Maverick has kind of covered two slightly different demographics during it's life.

1. People who want a cheap, no frills truck.
2. People who want a small truck no matter what.
I am in Group #2.
Maverick is a direct replacement for my last Ranger. (Third Generation)..
I also had First and Second Gens. And they were relatively all the same size...
Ranger, Fourth Gen was way too big...

Don't forget the pro trailer assist package...game changer imho!!
Well said, part of a package, not a general improvement. It only affects those who need/want/care about that option.

...not sure you could have purchased a maverick lariat hybrid awd with all that comes with it for $20k, even in 2022. Maybe a bare bones xl...that is now $26-$28, not $40K...
true but is AWD and 4k worth the $8-9,000 up in price? At least that what is compared to my 23 XL hybrid. It definitely doesn’t cost ford that much when it’s the exact same platform as other vehicles already in production. They are charging that much because people are willing to pay that much more. For me, over 30k price tag I would just go ranger and be able to tow more comfortably.

I agree. The issues on my Maverick are more a result of choices made in Michigan and at the local dealer than the folks in Hermosillo.

If you look closely at the 300+k GTD mustang, it has the same interior as a 5.0 or a 2.3, this ain't nothing new from ford
The GTD. You buy that not for the interior but for what it has achieved.
1st American car to play where only the European Super cars dare to go.
Ford MustangⓇ GTD: Road to the Ring
Nurburgring, first to complete a sub seven minute lap
This is a big deal.

I understand that I was just trying to make a point to someone else complaining about why his XL and Lariat door panels were the same.

I paid just a smidge over $37k total price including all taxes, fees, etc for my 2024 XLT last year. The same build in a 2025 is $1,140 more BEFORE taxes and fees. The hybrid? Even more expensive (and I would lose the FX4 package).

I felt that I got in the Maverick game too late last year. I kick myself frequently for not trying harder in 2023 (I was OBSESSED with the truck in late 2022). Now, in 2025? The sticker-shock is real. I suppose the Maverick is still a 'bargain' compared against most new trucks. However, the spirit of the Maverick was not to be over-priced like the Ranger or F-150. The Maverick has slowly become what it set-out to disassociate with.
