The Maverick is a car that wanted to be a truck so Ford gave it a shot before they fully committed to bringing the Ranchero back.
That said, the Maverick is capable of many things a full sized truck can do, but it gets much better fuel mileage than the full sized trucks.
Face it guys, we have the best of both worlds.
I was puzzled by Ford not using the name Ranchero for the reanimated "Maverick". But then I found out that they are bringing a new mid-size EV pickup to the market in a couple years, and it's called "Ranchero".

Context always matters, so amongst the current lineup of trucks I would definitely not call it full-size. That said I saw a Suzuki Jimny this weekend (mentioned earlier) and WOW that was one of the smallest new cars I've ever seen. Looked like a Jeep the size of a Fiat 500!

All those big stores need to stop calling this a truck! It’s a hand “cart”!🤔. Now I’m going to load up my trunk, roll my power windows up, then hit the road. 🛻

Search web for Suzuki S-Presso. Makes the Jimny look like an Expedition. Also before the 2026 model comes out… the most “it’s not a real car, is it” imho.

Never took to the Rancheros, late 60’s early 70’s El Caminos, were nice!

I wonder why Ford didn't choose Falcon for the Maverick? But, it was called the Falcon Ranchero, so maybe it was too confusing. Like the Transit and Transit Connect.

My Maverick can do some things that my F250 long bed supercrew could not. Like going through a drive thru (250 couldn't do the sharp curves). And...it can go nearly twice as far on a gallon of gas as well as drive through snow. And people will stop asking you to help them move. So I'm happy.

My F350 is a full size truck, but I don't need to tow 15,000 pounds or haul 6000 pounds daily. The Maverick will save a lot of miles on my diesel truck, and is much cheaper to operate. It is also a very convenient tax write off this year.

Whew, in my old eyes, that’s one ugly ass vehicle. But in its day probably mildly popular? I always preferred the El Camino over the Ranchero. Guess it’s sorta like one man’s junk is treasure to another 🤷🏻‍♂️

I guess it depends on which "full" size you compare it with , the old model T pickup, or the 1950's F-100 ?

It would be interesting to compare the dimensions of either or both, anyone have them?
The C-10 ran from 191-246” long, the second gen F-100 was 189”, and the Maverick is 199. Full size truck confirmed. 🙃

The
Maverick traded a 6ft bed for the extra row of seats!

A Maverick is larger in dimensions than the F100 up till 1960, only trading bed length for passenger seats.
