Some individuals had an issue when they use the remote start the heated steering wheel worked however the heated seat did not until they inserted the key and turn the ignition on OR pushed the start button. And yes when the key or push button was done the seats got hot right away. I had the same problem until I figured it out. Did you read what I wrote? Here is what I said' ( It's getting cool out and here are the settings in my Tremor that turn on the heated seats and steering wheel when the vehicle is remotely started from the key fob. Page 124. Instructions a little confusing.)
Mine is set the same way and it absolutely does not warm the seats to any significant extent until the ignition is on. It isn't confusing to set the feature. What I think is thateither some trucks do not work properly or some people do not notice the seats aren't hot when they get in. If the seat is 20 degrees, you'll notice.

Used the app to start the truck for the first time this morning (27 degrees). The heated seats and steering wheel were turned off at last use and HVAC was set to Auto. When I climbed in the seats were set to max and the heated steering wheel was on. I find the heated steering wheel to be very hot and usually turn it off after a minute or so. I have not check any settings. Just my observations. Lariat Lux.

I set the remote start to "auto". If I start the truck with the key fob, The heated steer wheel works but the heated seat doesn't work. Does anyone have experience with this?
Do you have a hybrid?

I just think Ford engineers just don't know how to get it to work.
My 2014 Flex never worked right either.

Checking into the service manual it seems the heated seats only go in full power mode on remote start below freezing. Although that doesn't necessarily mean they don't turn on at lower levels at higher temps.

Different climate control modes/preferences can be selected when the vehicle is started using the remote start feature. This may be accessed through the message center or infotainment system. For additional information on how to set the remote start preferences, refer to the Owner's Literature. When the driver seat and/or passenger seat is set to AUTO mode, the driver/passenger heated seat activates in full heat mode when the outside temperature is less than 0° C (32° F) any time the vehicle is started using the remote start feature. No heated seat adjustments are recognized during remote start operation.

Thanks for finding that. My Bronco does not behave that way. It's not often I need to, but I can remote start both in the garage around 40F and the Bronco is going 3/3 seat heat before the start button is pushed.

Meanwhile, the Maverick has what feels like maybe 1 or none until you hit start, and then it jumps to 3/3.

Pretty weird. I'll check when it's definitely below freezing next week and see if the behavior changes.

I was at the dealer last week for oil change. Service manager looked for TSBs, there were none. We then talked with their new car delivery tech guy. Had some ideas, so we went out and tired some. It was around 40° outside. We both sat inside the Mav and remote started it. After a little bit we could each feel heat, but was a low amount. We tired with both the heated seat being On when we turned off the Mav, and with them Off. It all worked as expected, heat came on in both cases, just a low level of heat.
So it seems the heat level is low. Which means if you are not sitting on the seat, the heat is probably ā€˜evaporating’ into the cold cabin, and that is why they don’t feel ā€˜hot’ when get in.
Certainly not how my ā€˜17 Fusion worked, seats were always toasty after remote start. My guess, probably some new safety thing.

I will say, I had previously went into the cluster and changed the setting from Auto to Off, exited the menu, then changed from Off back to Auto. So not sure if that helped or not. Prior to that I didn’t notice heat, but never tired being in it, when I started it, before.
