My hybrid lariat lux annoyingly has the same problem. Heated steering wheel definitely comes on with remote start, but the seats are cold even after several minutes. As soon as I get in and push the start button, the heated seats turn on max (even if I had them off when I turned the truck off the day before), so the truck clearly knows it's cold enough outside that it should turn them on.

Definitely seems like a software glitch

Wife has. 2020 escape titanium. The seats and wheel heat up on remote start. Its always set to "auto" on the climate so maybe that is why?

My climate control is always set to auto when I'm driving. And I have the remote start settings for the climate control/heated seats/heated wheel set to auto as well. Plus the heating wheel does come on with remote start, it's just the seats that don't (until I actually get in and push the start button).

remote started this morning, have settings at AUTO
it was 23 degrees outside
when I got in the truck: steering wheel on, drivers heated seat on, heater was blowing but no lights showing lit on the climate controls
key into ignition and climate controls returned to settings when I shut the truck off yesterday but heated seats and steering wheel remained on

the settings for it are in the instrument cluster display, controls for it are on the right hand side of the steering wheel

this matches my own observations with an ecoboost lariat lux. I also think it's bug or flawed logic in the cold start automation.

my previous reply that asked 3 questions was somewhat to hear what others are experiencing, but also to get people thinking about how the system is intended to work. I always use auto 3 on the HVAC setting. one aspect of this I'm a little curious about is if the seat weight sensors have any bearing. I'm going to remote start and sit down but *not* push the ignition button and see if the seat heater fires up. to this point I've always gotten in, noticed the same things Bj517 said above, and then pushed the ignition button which instantly turns on both seats at max even if I last had them at a lower setting.

if the truck thinks it's relatively warm you are not going to get HVAC, seat or steering wheel heat. good example yesterday parking at work in full sun, truck thinks that it's 57F. it was actually 38F. since the cabin was relatively warm I didn't need the seat heater, but if I was expecting them to be on based on the external temp I might just notice they weren't, and wonder why.

there's been a few comments about HVAC which I do think is a different issue than seat heaters. the truck knows that heat is dependent on coolant temp so if the engine is still cold it will not blast the heater even if it's very cold outside. some people know this, some do not and they get in and manually turn the fan speed up which is useless with the engine temp cold.

found this in the owners manual:
SWITCHING CLIMATE CONTROL
AUTO MODE ON AND OFF
1. Using the information display controls
on the steering wheel, select Settings.
2. Select Vehicle Settings.
3. Select Remote Start.
4. Select Climate Control.
5. Switch Auto on.
Note: If you switch the auto mode on, the
system attempts to heat or cool the interior
to 72°F (22°C).
Note:When you remotely start the engine,
you cannot adjust the climate control
settings until you start your vehicle.
Note:When you switch the ignition on, the
climate control system returns to the last
used settings.
Note: The heated windshield, heated rear
window, heated mirrors, heated seats and
heated steering wheel could turn on in cold
weather. Ventilated seats could turn on in
hot weather.

mine does the same. does your steering wheel heat up well? Mine is very tepid.
My steering wheel gets very toasty hot, then cools down quite a bit, eventually finding a steady warm temperature.

I had those settings already and it made no difference. I just checked them again to make sure they were set correctly.

I just re-confirmed I've got no difference in behavior whether using FordPass or factory remote start key fob. Climate control on Auto 3.

After starting but before pushing start button (lariat):
1. Nothing illuminated in HVAC lower dash area.
2. Heater running but fan speed is low even if it's very cold yet engine very warm (someone else mentioned this).
3. Steering wheel is warming but not hot. Definitely has some heat and not full intensity.
4. Seat heaters either off or very low.
5. Didn't feel mirrors but like everything else, heated mirror light is not illuminated.

After entering and sitting down, there is no change to anything including seat heater.

After starting ignition and it's cold (below 50F perhaps?):
A1. HVAC lights come on and fan speed may increase if it needs to heat or cool.
B1. Steering wheel heater lit, and immediately starts getting hotter.
C1. Seat heaters on at setting 3/max regardless of last setting.
D1. Heated mirror indicator lit. Still didn't check to see if mirrors feel warm and haven't had ice/snow on them yet to notice defrosting.

After starting ignition and it's not cold:
A2. HVAC lights on and no change in fan speed if cabin temp at/near normal range.
B2. Steering wheel not illuminated or heating.
C2. Seat heaters not illuminated or heating.
D2. Heated mirror indicator might or might not be on. I've noticed many times that it will be on when I think it's not cold, wheel and seat heaters aren't on, and I immediately turn the mirror heat off.

I think it's either Ford's intentional choice not to turn the seat heaters on or a bug. To me when remote starting in cold weather, the seat heaters should be either on full or at last setting. Not off.

I have the same issue with my Lariat. Regardless of whether the setting is "auto" or "last," heated seats don't activate with remote start until I'm in the vehicle and press the ignition button. As noted, this largely defeats the purpose of remote start in the winter.

Ditto. Regardless of whatever settings I try, no heated seats or steering wheel until I push the start button.

The fan is on with heat and the heated mirrors are on as well. Maybe Ford thinks everyone likes the chill of faux leather on their bottom and hands.

I Have the same issue with heated steering wheel and seat, but when I turn key to start xlt lux all my heated lights illuminate. The first couple of days I only used my key fob to remote start and seemed to work. When I tried my fordpass app the problems started occurring.

UPDATE: the heated steering wheel and seat do seem to work but the lights don't illuminate until key is turned
