If you do not take it to a dealer while it is under warranty, then Ford does not that there is a problem. The more problems reported, then they just might look into “Quality Job One” again… let them pay and they will maybe, just maybe, the will start getting a little better quality product.

Last week I was loading up my MAV for a trip. I closed the tailgate and.......that's the last time I've been able to open it.

I've tried unlocking it - with the fob, the button, and the key. All nothing. I've tried pulling, pounding, and prying. I have a tonneau cover on so I had to rig up some zip ties to be able to open it and get stuff in/out of the best.

I assume there is either a cable or rod system inside the tailgate that opens latches on each side of the bed. I've not tried yet - can the inner panel on the bed side of the tailgate be opened up to access the latch mechanism? Does anyone have pictures or a video of what's inside?

Since I was packed for a trip I didn't have time to dig into it more before I left. Looking for previous experience and advice to see what I need to get into to fix it.

I guess it's better that it's stuck closed vs. open?!

Thanks, Lee
Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

No I saw that I was thinking if it happens to me or another Mav owner. The owner would have to get the cover opened before bringing to dealer? .
Aaahhhhh! It just came to me! It's a FLEX BED! I'M going to hang a GREEN ZIP TIE through the big opening in the bottom of the tailgate with a pull ring next to the crash bar! 😂😂😂

You should not post you VIN in the public forum. Send that in a direct message.

This happened to me today. But it fixed itself after a few try. Also my rear passages window won’t go up few days ago but now it’s working fine…

Things don't fix themselves. Things that seem to fix themselves are likely intermittent problems.

An inoperable passenger side rear window is a known problem. Being related to the a faulty driver's window switch panel.
If the passenger side rear window gets stuck in the down position.
You should be able to use the passenger rear door switch and operate it.
Good luck
Examples of others with the same problem.

I just had a rear window failure. The master window control is being replaced. Coincidentally, I just had a software recall update run for my vehicle.
Currently as off today, 29,774 miles. Had the vehicle a year and 1/2 since December of 2022. Only issues to report, passenger rear window rolled down in august of 2023 and got stuck down, took it in apparently a bad switch stuck in the down position, ruined a weekend trip but it was resolved,..
