Tailgate removal

I was browsing the owners manual and came across tailgate removal. It mentioned a cap that covers the electrical connection when the tailgate is removed. It said the cap is in the glove box. All I have in there are the two pigtails and gas spout. Anyone ever see this cap?

What I want to know is how did you get two 12v pigtails! Everyone I know (from here) had only one and when I contacted my dealer, they hadn't a clue what I was talking about.

Same here. One pigtail, no cap. XLT Hybrid.

With less weight, does gas mileage improve a little bit? How about if it is just in the down position? See a fair amount of guys with pick-ups who drive around with tailgate down and nothing in the bed.

I had to go check I was mistaken only got one pigtail. You would think all the stuff that is supposed to be in the glove box would all come in one bag. Driving with the tailgate down is supposed to improve fuel economy. I have had a few pickups. Think I only took the tailgates off a handful of times. Forget why.

Bed cover is said to improve mpg too.

Tfl did a test on it I think. Was not much different. The improvement was only there when they calculated the mpg from who much fuel was put in the tank.
