What is the best bang for buck tailgate protector ? Mine is not a work truck, but does see a little use. I'm looking for something simple, nothing fancy.
Thanks

I used a Stall Mat from tractor supply ($50) and cut it to fit as a bed mat. the piece left over fit perfectly on my tailgate. I used longer screws to mount it to the tailgate access panel and longer screws on the Bottle opener tail gate tie down. zoom in on the photo to see the screws. This bed mat is super heavy duty and can be flipped over for the smooth side. Best of luck!

Thats a good idea ! There is a Tractor Supply store close by, and I have a sales tax exemption with them.
Do you ever have a problem with water under the mat ? Does it stay wet under there ? Any corrosion ?
Thanks
Charlie

I am thinking of buying the stall mat for my bed. Can you take a picture of how it fits in your bed? It is 4x6 so wondering how you fill that space completely and still have extra for the tailgate. Lastly, that mat seems pretty heavy. Does it make the tailgate feel too heavy. Can't beat the price though if you can get both the bed and tailgate covered for $50.

Never. I live in Phoenix, so rain is not an issue. I also have a hard tri-fold bed cover. When I had the Blue AWD there was no bed cover, but still no rain. The mat is heavy enough to never worry about it blowing out on its own.

Yes it does add weight to the tailgate. I recommend a tailgate assist shock.

I was confused with "Protector" but I've done this before, usually with hard leftover materials like plastic or wood and if im lucky aluminum. Referred to it as "Work Bench" or "Tailgate Table". But of the whole bed it does take the most beating. Id say just use whatever materials you have laying around as you will be replacing it more often than you plan.

I got the bed sprayed by Line-X, to protect it properly. Then in order to save my old knees, I used a $20 outdoor carpet cut to fit the bed and the tailgate, with some body washers to hold it in place when the tailgate is raised. When I'm hauling dirt, I just pull the mat out first and roll it up on the back seat.

Do a search for "TrailFX Tailgate Liner - RFMA22TG". A lot of retailers carry it and some of the deals are as low as $30 BUT the shipping varies a lot.
Here it is on Amazon for $47.30 with FREE delivery.

In my opinion the quality is just as good as OEM Ford and it's what I went with as my tailgate protector along with nice thick rubber bed mat.

The TrailFX bedliner has been reported as being the factory OEM part. If you buy directly from TrailFX the local pickup is at your local dealer.

The website says this does not match the 2025 Maverick though I didn't think the 2025 Maverick tailgate was any different than the 22-24? Anybody put this on their 2025?

It fits my 25. Beware there’s spacers that are required. They are not included & have to be purchased separately.

How hard is the mat to cut? This is the 4'x6' stall mat right?
