Tailgate cables - should both be taut?

I have a 2025 Maverick AWD --when tailgate is in down position both cables are engaged and taunt, however when the tailgate is put in the halfway position only one cable is engaged and taunt --the other cable is loose - thus only one cable is holding weight of tailgate? The Dealer states all 2025 Mavericks are designed this way????? Is this true?

Pictures would help, but no, each side should be connected the same way no matter what at least for my 2022. Can't imagine 2025 models are different.

I've actually figured out (with help of this forum) 4 different ways to "string" the tailgate cables for different tailgate heights.

There should not be a major difference between the cables at either position. Sure, there may be some minor difference in the tautness of the two cables, but when some weight is added, there is enough flex in the gate that both cables should be taut.
In the down position, sit on the tailgate - both cables taut? Then add some weight in the 1/2 way position and check tautness.

Only a few physical things that could cause this IMO

Cables are slight different lengths
Anchor positions on the tail gate the truck bed are slightly off

you can measure all of these to verify and rule this out

It was my younger brother who showed me how you can loop the cable from the bottom connector over the top one to get the higher position right before he told me about the built in hand warmers in the tailgate for when I had to push it in the winter. Apparently he is not a FORD truck kind of guy.

You may be able to loosen and slightly reposition the latch pin(s) so that the cables are both tight, but this will also affect the position of the tailgate when closed.

I remember being slightly concerned that I might have the same problem while I was waiting almost a year for my truck but was happy to find they were both exactly the same length. If I had this problem and because I am a tiny bit OCD I probably would have sought a solution from Ford and barring that bought replacement ones from Ford in the hopes that I could find at least 2 the same length from the 4 cables.

I will admit to being somewhat OCD at times but I'm not sure why this is a problem, especially one that's so important that one spends time thinking and worrying about it before their ordered vehicle arrives.

LOL, I assume you are replying to my post... maybe you did not see " slightly concerned " (slight-ly {adverb} 1. to a small degree; not considerably). I was not obsessed with it, but I would think any weight limits of the gate are determined while being suspended equally from both sides and not from one cable on one side. I am glad to hear you would not have worried about it.
