Tailgate Assist T-Nut Keeps Popping Out of Tailgate

Little embarrassed to be posting this but can’t figure out that I’m doing wrong. Got the OEM/Dee Zee tailgate assist with my Rewards points. But the “t-nut” that is supposed to hold the bracket to the side of the tailgate keeps popping out of the hole? What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like it will not stay tight. You might put some thread locker on the bolt and reinstall it.

Are you rotating it as described in step #5?

Ah, no, didn’t rotate it, that’s what I was doing wrong. I watched the install video (they don’t ship these printed instructions with it) and must have missed that part. Thank you!

Also take a file and define the flats so they will grip. I ground off some of the lock tite off the screw with a wire wheel to ease install. Get a good fitting tool to ultra tighten it once for all.
