This has me looking into the screen again. Did you put any consideration in the 12" screens used on the f150/bronco?

No because they all sit inside the dash. I needed one that was somewhat finished to sit on top

I'd like Sync4 w/ the screen I already have... I'd like the software features (e.g. wireless Android Auto), but could care less about a larger screen. Wonder if that is possible..

On a side note, I only found about about the higher resolution panel as that seems to be something going on with the f150's upgrading their sync 3 screens. There is an 8.46" sync 4 screen that is backwards compatible with sync 3 systems. They are quoted to be interchangeable with the 8.0" screen size wise too.
I'd actually like that higher resolution 8.46" screen just to replace my exsiting 8" and then pair it with the Sync4 APIM. Again... I don't need the size... just the functionality that comes with Sync4. I have a Lariat, so I already have Sync3.. hmmmm...

Nice write-up. Wishing Ford would have done it your way. AC knobs rule!

It is possible. I have the 8 inch sync 4 screen in my maverick which has wireless AA/CP. there’s a thread on how to do it in this forum space

How "snappy" is Sync 4 compared to Sync 3? My main complaint with the screen is how laggy it feels, and the horrible amounts of Bluetooth lag when playing audio through my Sync 3 system on my Lariat. It's as if the computer is super under resourced and the Bluetooth lag is a few whole seconds, it's crazy slow.

The Sync 4 system on my Bronco is way better than the Sync 3 on my Mav in just about every way. They truly feel a generation apart. I'm looking forward to Sync 4 in the '25 Mav.

I have a Bronco also and I agree, but the person asking this question has a profile that says XLT.

if that's true they are not currently using Sync3, they have Ford Connected Audio, which debuted on the Maverick and it looks like Ford is eager to dump it. Sync4 is a massive improvement over Ford Connected Audio.

That's a really good point, I forgot about that. I had a XLT and Sync3 on my Lariat was a big step up so Sync 4 is a giant step up. Ford Connected Audio felt like 2005.

Thanks for sharing this write up. Can you include your APIM config file? Were there any other module configs that you needed to change for this to work? Do you have any DTCs present with the new APIM?
Thanks
Sam

@Billzilla15 I dm’d you. Was interested in the 3D bracket you were thinking of making. Wanted to see how it turned out.

No no didn't need to modify anything else but the apim programing. There's a few dtcs stored. But nothing that trips a light . I can share it but it's specific to my truck. Like I said originally every truck is different
