Latest update. Camera works. Sirius works. I had wireless carplay working then it just stopped for some reason. It wont let me enable to the app projection which is needed for that.

Two other issues that Im having some trouble sorting out. When using the steering wheel to scroll presets it skips the sirius channels and sirius wont display on the instrument cluster. I think both of these are related.

I ran out of time for today and Im going away for the weekend so I wont be able to work on this until monday. @zackmd1 I hope you have a little better luck than I do this weekend. Id say Im about 90-95% done and this is ready outside of the three issues I listed.

Maybe a change to IPC to get Sirius on the dash? No way it's that easy, but I'm hopin' it would be!

I had it working before so it’s an ACM as built change.

Ford Maverick SYNC 4 swap for Maverick XL / XLT (non SYNC 3 systems) DEEF93FD-BBE1-4CA0-9038-8F086739B17A

I was going over the database and couldn’t find the exact entry before I ran out of time. It’s a AB entry somewhere that links the wheel and dash to the apim just haven’t found it yet

Ok latest update. I think the steering controls skipping Sirius channels is because the subscription isnt active. The reason I believe this is because when you first turn on the truck it will go through all presets no problem including sirius then it will stop. So then I tried to use the voice controls to see if it would tune to a sirius channel and it just gives me a response that my subscription is not active and just goes right back to FM.

After lunch today I am going to activate the radio. I can only call to do this so its going to take some time. I tried to enter the radio info on the website and it wont work. If the subscription being active fixes this issue then this is working as good as I need it to.

The only issue I have yet to sort is wireless carplay. I have Customer Connectivity Setting enable in the AB but it doesnt make a difference. Its weird because this worked for about two hours the other day and then just stopped and I cant figure out what worked before and what doesnt now.

My suspicions were correct. I activated the radio and it works. I can cycle through presets. The only issue is the now playing for Sirius isn’t show on the instrument cluster. CarPlay and fm do. I don’t know why. Camera works as well. This is working good enough for me at the moment. I can button up the asbuilt going forward to fix some things here and there.

Glad you swap to SYNC 4 is working for you. Thanks for all the great work and for posting the results. You've given us a great road map to duplicate. Again, thanks.

Hey no problem. As Ive stated before @zackmd1 did all the wiring. None of this wouldve been possible without him.

The only issue I have now is I dont know how or where to mount the APIM. The Lariat with sync 3 has a bracket that holds it in place. That bracket isnt in the XLT/XL. I tried for about an hour to get it mounted some way and cant figure it out. Once I can sort that I'll leave this installed in the truck. my initial thoughts are to mount the APIM behind the glove box but I'll need a longer USB, APIM and GPS cable if I take that route.

I had this problem once happen on my unit (unmodified Lariat Lux Sync 3). I had to reselect something else to take its place on my instrument cluster. I then hard rebooted my stereo. Turned off the truck. Waited 30 seconds, restarted. Reselected Now Playing back in the instrument cluster. Profit.

Never had the issue again. Could be completely unrelated to what you've got going on. But worth a try. Good luck!

I hard rebooted both the cluster and the APIM and neither worked. Im not sure what setting im missing but someone will find it sooner or later if I dont. I can live without the instrument cluster since the radio is only a foot to the right.

I have to look once my new APIM arrives but I was thinking of mounting it just under the ACM to the plastic tray that the ACM slides into. Not sure about space but it should be close enough for everything to still connect without extensions.

The problem with that is the plugs on the APIM. They take up a ton of space and will probably stick up to high and wont let you slide the APIM in. I was also thinking of mounting it behind the center part of the dash if I can slide it back there from the foot well and run the wires to that. Im going to work on some mounting solutions tomorrow and see if I can come up with anything.

Ok think I might have solved the camera issue. Have to test tomorrow to be sure. While the other 3 shields are acting exactly as I thought (metal sheathing encasing wires with only the APIM pin providing a ground) the camera shield looks like it is pulling double duty. Its acting as the shield and also what appears to be the ground for the camera module itself since it runs the entire length of the vehicle and is connected to the camera module as well.

Hopefully adding this lead this solves the camera issue. If it does then it is just down to the ACM communication issue.

Two things I did find interesting though while messing with the configuration.... Sync 4 has an option to enable HS4 can and communicate with an HS4 TCU. I do not have those CAN Bus leads populated in the harness but it might be worth trying and seeing if the APIM can communicate with the TCU. That would add wifi and OTA updates back into the mix for Sync 4. The other thing was that Sync 4 has parameters specific for the Maverick. That means either sync 4 was planned but then scrapped before the Maverick released, or there are future plans to bring Sync 4 to the Maverick.

I would have to go back in and look but there is a vehicle name parameter, boot animation, and some other low level settings that have Maverick specific parameters.

I found the part number for the bracket that holds the APIM out of the way so you can slide the ACM in.

LJ6Z14A301AA

Its pricey for all it does but Ive spent the last two hours trying to get this mounted and there is no easy way to do it.
