I had a similar issue on my motorcycle a few months back. I happened to be on my way to the dealer at the time. Luckily on a motorcycle there are two brakes. The rear brake went down without ant resistance with no actual brake. The front way fine, since that is the most important one, I just risked it and rode the 40ish miles. Turned out to be just an air bubble in the brake line.

Wonder if something is wrong with the regenerative braking in transmission. Only say this because for some reason the hybrid gets a nee one in 25. Have almost 30k miles on mine the pads and rotors still look new (due to regen braking) so unless its leaking fluid or tranny has issue cant imagine what that would be.

Remember that if you press brake pedal a little further (aka harder) and you get less than 100% regen that % less is what hydraulic braking is doing. 35% Regen means 65% is hydraulic. Also rear brakes are applied first. Possible if driver rests left foot on brake pedal to be ready to stop he might be driving with Regen off because he has go pedal pressed by right foot and rear hydraulics are rubbing. Maybe the programmers overlooked a Warning/beeping Popup = "Go Pedal And Brake Pedal BOTH BEING USED"?

In an emergency like this and your brakes are not working You can hold the parking lever and it will apply brakes I have tried it.
While you hold the lever up the brakes are on as soon as you let go with the brakes let go.

From how it was described I would suspect the brake booster has a problem. Had to replace the booster in a Ford FWD with brakes acting like the description and it was spooky just getting it from the lot into the repair stall. After replacing the booster all was normal again.

Wonder if the electronic booster fails do you lose hydraulic completely? Vacuum brake boosters did not just had to push harder. If you do as soon as interest drops or i find a lower mileage pentastar ram 14-19 the maverick is going. That would he the last straw, if ford did something like that they shouldnt be allowed to build cars at that point. Had no trouble in three yrs with the ram truck had to go because of oops baby at 46 years old 😂 and it was a regular cab.

Glad you are OK.

One question, why would you endanger others on the road and drive it home at any speed?

Wait, they let him drive it home after break failure ?!.

Unbelievable.
My insurance company would pay for towing to dealership or your home (even if not reimbursed by Ford along with cost for transportation (Uber, Rental, Cab, ?) to home. Policy has 30 day or $1500.00 max car rental coverage. I would be deadly afraid of any kind of incident on way home and having to discuss my decision to drive the unsafe truck home. Remember the insurance would pay for the second incident since the truck is insured (not the driver). The insurance company could then sue the driver for damage recovery on the second incident.

OMG that is a horrible situation. Please let us know the findings. Very distressing.
I am curious to know if this was an electronic glitch or if some physical mechanical part of the braking system.

yup i'd get it towed for nearest Ford dealer and call it a day.
Now he will call the dealer tell them what happened (including driving it home) and they will tell him to get lost and leave it up to insurance.

Getting it towed there right after the fact at least makes it more legit.
