@DrNoobNStein - Thanks for the post. Still happy with it? Thinking I may try. Which CT woofer and fuse did you get?
I purchased the CT shallow mount 8"
CT Sounds Hydro 8” Dual 2-Ohm... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CRSS3P62?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

The fuse:

Yes, MLC2023 I'm very happy. Eventually I opted for the pre built enclosure from Ground Shaker. I went to their direct website and ordered it. Much cleaner and better looking than my T shirt covered sub 😉

Oh. I forgot to mention that after purchasing the Ground Shaker 8" sub enclosure driver side, I had to slightly enlarge the speaker opening. I taped off the front panel, traced out the pattern and used the old jig saw.

Thanks for the info! Aw, I liked the Dunkin’ t-shirt covered box. Did you notice a difference in quality between your build and Ground Shaker? I know Ground Shaker is slightly bigger. I was kinda looking forward to building my own.

Wow, sorry for not seeing your question. If it's not too late, my custom made box seemed to hit a little harder but the Ground Shaker definitely gets lower bass and overall just sounds better

@DrNoobNStein I just wanted to say "Thank You" for this post and sharing your install. I was finally motivated to go for it. Rockford Fosgate amp, wiring kit, and Posi Taps ordered. I have two 6.5" Rockford Fosgates in box laying around, so I'll test the sound with those, and if not sufficient I'll bump up to one 10" sub.

Again, I greatly appreciate you sharing with us!!

I’ve almost finished with my own enclosure build, based roughly on the dimensions you posted earlier. I’ll go with it until I hear how it sounds. Maybe, I’ll go with the Groundshaker if I’m not happy. This is my first delve into building/modifying since I was a teen, many years ago. I spent some extra on a Kenwood amp that the sales rep told me was auto power off. Hope that works! I’ll post photos if I ever finish. 🙂

Awesome! I did eventually discover the Plinius Amp does shut off after 30 minutes so no battery drain. And make sure you measure the bottom twice, my original measurement might have been too generous. I found out that I was stressing the plastic tub. Good luck and please post pics when done 👍

The rear speakers do not get full range sound from the radio. You are going to be missing some of the lower frequencies.

I was under the impression the rear speakers had an inline filter for the low frequency, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's filtered from the head unit. You've piqued my curiosity, I'm going to play a frequency sweep on my rear speakers/subs and see how low it goes.

Does the "Flat EQ Enable" in Forscan remove the high pass filter to the rear speakers?

Great question. Something I havent looked at. I used a t harness and ran new wires for all of my speakers. I tried playing lows on the rear speakers using a filter and nothing.

@jewc75 you're right, I played a low frequency sweep from YouTube. It starts at 200hz and slowly goes down to 10hz. At 40hz the bass drops completely off. At 60hz to 45hz my sub was rattling my entire truck then no sound waves as soon as it hit 40hz. I'll have to update my post, thank you for pointing this out.

@DrNoobNStein hooked my subwoofer up pretty much like you tapping into the rear pillar speakers. But not much sound coming out of the subwoofer. Any suggestions?

Keep us posted, as I would like to tap the rear speakers signal to run them for a Hi-Level signal to my Alpine mono amp. I'll tap the front speakers if that's the only way to get a full range signal to the amp.
