Still can’t find someone to cut spare key

Well it seems like since my xlt doesnt have remote start all the so call key by picture places cant make me a key!nobody near sanford nc can do it at all because of the laser type key except the ford place .now if 200$ plus is normal price i have found a very few places.what would not having remote start have to do with making a key?this is getting kinda ridiculous!

Different frequency the fob uses, probably includes keyless entry and pushbutton start.

So probably just a factor of not having the correct fob in stock.
Or they all have a deal with local Ford dealerships.

You found the thread about getting a key without fob, so at least can open door and start truck?

The picture by key places pointed out have done non-remote, non-keyless entry keys - so not sure what problem you are having with them.

I tried to get the key cut but I couldn't find a locksmith that could do it. I read here about the insane prices that some dealerships charge for cutting the key. As a last resort, I called the dealership where I bought my vehicle and was surprised they charged only $25 to cut it. The cut wasn't very accurate. I had to jam the key into the door lock and the ignition, but it still worked. It might wear-in with use but I am going to use it as a third spare fob.

I had trouble finding a place that could cut them in my town, finally found a locksmith, who happened to be in my area on a service call and I got a discounted price for the "service call" to my residence. $30 plus $15 to cut the key. He had a portable laser key cutter and brought it into my garage and cut it there. Said the machine cost $4,000. It's a somewhat complex process, both sides of course have to be cut, and it takes awhile for the electronic pre-alignment process prior to the cutting.

They are complicated to cut. I bought my own chipped blank. And had the dealer cut the key. $8.00 and I programed it using the owners manual.

Locksmiths CAN cut a key that you can open the door without the FOB. The reason locksmiths don't want to cut you a key is because Ford has not yet given out the specific key info that locksmiths need to program the resistor to start the truck, and make a new FOB work for the 2024 models. I bought a 2024 last November.

At my local Costco - Washington State - carkeysexpress had their mobile vans in the parking lots making keys for vehicles. I paid for a key - about $185?. Alot leess than the dealership charges - about $450. No FOB. No programming to be able to start the truck. I told them I only want a key cut to open the door......
The key opens the door just fine. (I hide the key under the truck in case I lock myself out with my other keys/FOB.)
You could contact carkeysexpress.com and find out if they are going to be in your neighborhood somewhere. Carkeysexpress said I can go back to them at a future date after Ford publishes the info to locksmiths - with my original receipt and they will program the key so it will also start the truck.
They said they can do 2023 models and earlier no problem. They said try and contact them middle of 2025 and maybe....

Here is the key I bought. It works likes champ. The dealers have The equipment to cut the key. And can do it by VIN. Your dealer is just trying to screw you.

programming it took some time but the guy was very patient.

There are online places that will cut and program your keys for a reasonable price. Just Google "Ford Keys" and you'll see dozens of them.

Now I'm not promising your car will still be in the driveway Monday morning (as opposed to being on a tramp steamer to Russia), but you have options.

[at the time] I was unable to get any local locksmith to cut my Strattec 5923293 HU101 blank, either.

Bought the blank online, mailed it to FasterAutoKeys. Works great and I used it in a HitchSafe/Vault for spare and when surfing. Programmed it myself, so it can also start the truck. All in was $53. You can go cheaper with direct from eBay/China, but the Strattec is an OEM quality transponder key.
