Turning it off is part of my preflight.

My hand takes my seatbelt over, click.
The start stop off button is right there.
No big deal.

My understanding is that the coolant does not stop cirulating during an ASS stop. The mechanical pump stops but there is an electric pump that continues to circulate for the HVAC and to prevent overheating. Could be wrong but thats what I have read.
Toyota does a whole bunch of extra things, just like that.

Not read that Ford did on the Mavericks beyond the simple bare requirements to get something to work.
Hence the reason there are so many "outs" for when it won't activate. Temps being a few of them.

Considering the addition of a light in the back seat power port causes enough draw to disable the AS/S from working for a couple of posters that tested it - I'm very much doubting that an actual electrical pump could possibly run and not draw enough disabling it anyway.

Considering the fuse box only lists this - also doubtful. Unless I missed another name for it.

My battery is never fully charged enough for the feature to operate. If it did I would buy the device to turn it off. No way thousands of extra starts does not affect systems.
I seem to have the same issue…it lights up on the dash but stays gray…doesn’t turn green anymore

I’m thinking my battery isn't fully charged as well

I don't know about any of those technical issue with Auto Start/Stop, I just find it highly annoying.

You can thank the then out-of-control EPA for that.
Our rivers used to catch fire 🤷‍♂️

Nixon's EPA has done far more good than bad in its lifetime. I don't love the A-S/S on non-hybrids either, but I wouldn't trash the entire EPA over it... especially since A-S/S is optional and NOT a mandate 😄

I use it sparingly. If you're into using it but get annoyed at the 1 to 10 second shutoffs(which doesn't save any fuel)do what I found works well. When coming to a stop, release all but enough brake pressure to hold in place. The system won't activate. If for whatever reason you miss the green or have to wait longer than you expected, just put more pressure on the brake pedal. Works for me.

In 19th century London thousands of people died in bed over one night from coal smoke poisoning. We need the EPA for sure. Mandates fail when they don't work. It's self regulating.

I do turn it off as well… but mine just doesn’t work right now…it’s an item that should work even though I don’t use it

Who is trashing the entire EPA? Anyone who thinks there isn't a little overreach here & there by government agencies is whoa-fully ignorant.

True, ASS was not a mandate per-say, but at the time, based on the technology, it was a necessary "option" to meet the newest CAFE requirements. This is the ONLY reason OEM's put it into production.
