There should be a way to disable this feature without having to use forscan to do it! The amount of gas you save is minute versus over working the starter! Plus having your battery drain every time you stop!
You can each time you climb in. Sorry if that is inconvenient. Your other arguments don't hold water as it isn't to improve gas mileage and you are not draining the battery. You're looking for the absolute smallest of reasons to justify not liking it and want others to se your view point.
If you don't like then just don't like it. I on the other hand like it. And have no problem disabling when I don't wish to use it.

Wow thanks for your opinion! I do disable it when I get in but don’t feel you should have to!

like others have said, there are a ridiculous amount of parameters of which the stop/start will not work. I believe on this forum someone posted a screenshot or something with all the variables that will cause it to not activate. (too cold, not up to operating temp, have climate control setting on...like the ac or something....and on and on)... but a trend seems to be possibly a bad battery or (and this annoys the crap out of me)... you do not drive it long enough for the vehicle to fully charge the battery.

I took mine in during its recalls to be completed (and an oil change) and had them look into it. The dealership put it on the battery testing machine that takes a few hours to fully "test" the battery and charge it/run it out of juice, charge again, etc. (or so I was told). pretty much the result was that the state of charge (SOC) was too low and just needed to be charged up.

This is a common thing to hear with Ford and the auto stop/start. That local drives around town are not enough and you need a good 1+hr drive here and there to top the battery off. No exact word on how long of a drive, or how often you need to do it, but when the truck notices battery level low, stop/start is deactivated.

After I told them that it was not stop/starting and they did the battery check, and charged it, it has been working ever since (2 weeks now). but knowing I do not drive long enough frequently enough, I am expecting to have it just stop working one day and then realize I need to do a nice long drive or plug it into a trickle charger.... if I really want the stop/start feature working again.

A lot of people on here state they do not like the stop/start, and I do not mind it at all, I just hate having a feature on my new vehicle that for some reason isnt working. I want them to find out if its due to something being bad/broken, or its in working order and I just need to drive it a fair distance once in a while...type of deal. So now after they looked into it, charged it, and its working again, I for now know its an issue of me not putting in long enough drives...which is very annoying.

Well update on my auto start/stop. As you can see in my post last week I commented about not driving long distances and I had a feeling at some point the stop/start would not activate. I drive about 30 miles (15miles each way) to work and back and only 4 or so of those miles are getting to and from the highway.

Last night took the wife out to dinner and on the way to the restaurant noticed that I came to a complete stop and the truck did not turn off (which it has been since the dealership charged it up for me about 2-3 weeks ago). I flipped the dash screen to the start/stop screen... and for all the stops I made to and from the restaurant, the truck just kept telling me "vehicle on due to charging"....which is what I was seeing before i took it to the dealership for them to look into the stop/start concern.

After the dealership told me that everything is to be in working order and just needed a charge, I got home that same day and changed forscan to 95% battery charge in the settings (as after the bcm and other recall, it reverted the settings back)....and (at least for me) the end result was I still do not drive long enough to charge the battery enough for the stop start to work.

I do not have a real big need for the auto stop/start and do not see a need to buy a battery tender to be plugging in once or twice a week for the feature, but wish that Ford could look into a bigger alternator or some other way to fix this minor issue. I just like having all the features on my brand new vehicle to be in working order is all...and needing to charge it weekly or drive it for 1+hr (or more, no real definite answer from anyone) weekly just to have the feature, I am going to be ok without it working for most of the vehicle life....with the exception to the few times where I drive long enough each year that it charges enough and starts working.

So if anyone is having concerns about the stop/start not working, the first thing I would say would be to try charging the battery up for the night/day and see if that works.

so for TL: DR...
made a post last week about dealership charged my battery up and it started working again. I dont drive far each day, worried it was a matter of time before it stopped working again. 2-3weeks later with normal driving... last night stop/start didn't activate and hasn't since. either I leave it alone, or charge it weekly to get the feature back.

Hello, I would like to take a look into your stop/start concerns further on my end. Could you please send us a message with your VIN and mileage?
What did you find, if anything. The other day my FordPass would not work. It said I had to drive the vehicle. I just drove it a lot the day before?
