Spare Tire Access Tool (Upgrade)

Can you tell if there's a way to secure the spare tire? With a chain? Where I live some lowlife are stealing the spare tires...

I'd suggest if they have time to deal with snipping the wire, they'll have time to snip some chain locks.
I guess that could make it look more difficult - 2 sets of cross chains.
Perhaps encourage them to move on to easier truck.

And then when you need to get it down - you get to deal with rusted lock.

Yea . here in Florida if it isn't nail , tacked , screwed down or locked up things seem to disappear . I am sure there is someway to prevent theft of spare tire . if I am not mistaken F150 had a locking device to fit in slot for bar that lowers spare . not sure if it would work on maverick .

Do we think thieves take the time to winch down the spare, or are they just using a cordless grinder to cut the end of the cable off?

Moral of story . don't pay for supposed fullsize spare . put a donut up there .

I used the Steelman 96095 Standard Square Head Tire Tool for Early Model Ford + cordless drill to lower my spare when rotating tires today. Made lowering & raising the spare easier than the Ford jack tool.
