Software Update in MY Driveway!

I received a phone call Tuesday afternoon offering to do a necessary software on my 22 Lariat Hybrid. I was not too willing as its always a hassle to take the pickup to the dealer and hope they can keep their word. The voice said "how about tomorrow afternoon at your house" Your picking up my pickup? "Nope, we will come out and do the service in your driveway" Anyway I said yes and the dealership mobile repair truck showed up and the tech spent 35 min on his computer updating several of the computers in my Maverick. I couldn't get much info about what the updates did, but when I moved my Mav back to the garage the engine was running in Reverse (which it did not used to do) and the tone of the engine was different and a bit louder than before. Tomorrow when I drive it I might find other differenced.

had same thing done for me in my driveway tuesday ('22 hybrid lariat lux), i havent noticed anything different other than my MTE is way down...swear it went down 40 miles only going 15 miles since..while getting 50mpg those 15 miles...

anywho they didnt tell me anything about what it does either.

The engine will run while driving in reverse when the HVB needs charging or the heat is on.

Yes, my dealer did this too. Not sure what the update is. My wife was home when they worked on the truck.

But now my cabin lights will not turn on when the doors open. Very inconvenient when I'm trying to put my toddler in his car seat at night.

Check the switch in the overhead console. They might have flipped that

It's in the neutral position when I checked last night. My wife have been driving the truck lately. I guess I'll have to check again.

The engine was running in reverse? How was it running before the update,in forward?

Before the update, the engine did not run in reverse backing out of garage. Always battery power.

Double check to be sure he did not turn the cabin lights off to not drain your battery while he was working and forgot to turn them back on when he finished. The switch is on the light and has three positions on, off, and on when door open.

I got a call also, they are coming to my house tomorrow. I’ve read other posts that this might affect the mileage, but MIGHT also take care of the grabby brakes and stutter. I hope so.

Participating Ford dealers offer mobile service, where they send a Transit, Escape, etc. to a location of your choosing for basic repairs. For a software update, basically all they need is a tech with an Escape, a laptop, and perhaps a battery charger. More involved repairs still require a shop visit, of course.
