Now available on Amazon is a CD player that connects to the USB port. It "fools" the info system into thinking it is a thumb drive with music tracks. Just search for a "car USB cd player". Cost is about $55 to $85. I got the more expensive unit so it has 3 methods of play, USB, FM, and aux in. Since I do not have my Mav yet, I cannot say for sure it will work in the Mav (it does in my 21 Mazda). If it does not work, return it. The one requirement is that the car must be able to recognize "WAV" music files; the Mav does. Other suppliers claim their player works in Rangers and F150s; so chances are they will in a Mav. The sound is great, and much better than streaming. If you are happy with streaming than this is not for you.

Update: Works great in my new 24 Lariat (delivered 2 days ago). There is only 1 cord as the unit also gets power from the USB.

I listen to Amazon Music in my Maverick. I click the phone button and say "Amazon play Neil Young". Very soon Neil young is comin out f my speakers. Nice - no fuss, no muss.

Years ago I uploaded all my CDs to iTunes. Then I sold them to FYE. Now everything is on my phone and easily accessed through bluetooth or Apple CarPlay.

I stopped buying CDs in the early 2000s. Digital is the way to go. A large thumbdrive is cheap, ripping your CDs is easy, and there are lossless codecs that you can use. I would be annoyed having to constantly change CDs again, haha.

Not sure which of the Amazon cd players you are referring to but the Lehwey Portable CD players does not list the Maverick as compatible.

I'm thinking of getting one as I still have a wall of CDs and will still buy used CDs for $1 or so. The player seems to sit pretty good right in front of the center console cubby and you can drop the CD in the from the top. There seem to be 2 brands/styles, one is shown in a YouTube video so we know that one works on the Maverick and puts the controls on the touchscreen like an ipod. The one you got seems to have several options to connect, but let's hope the USB and screen control works being the ideal setup. It seems like it would since ipods haven't changed and these just emulate ipods.

I really don't understand the hatred for physical media on this forum. I love owning CD's. I like to listen to one album at a time with no commercials. Even if I chose to pay for Spotify or any equivalent they let you choose the playlist to start then inevitably go with some trash that has me turn the volume down. If, on a road trip, I lose cell signal I get silence until I can grab signal again.

To anyone who likes streaming, more power to you. I think they'd make sense for podcasts but for me, CD's are the way.

There are options in between streaming and CDs. Also with no commercials. I don't hate physical media, I just like efficiency. Having all of my music on a flash drive is way better than switching CDs. I can create my own playlists and I can randomize my entire collection as well. I can also listen to just one album at a time if I want.

If you like CDs more power to ya, no problem with that. Just some of us, don't prefer that way.

I like owning copies of music, too. I just prefer the copies be on something besides compact discs.
To store much music at all on CDs, you'd need tons of 'em cluttering up the truck and just generally being in the way. With all the music I want to listen to stored on my phone, I don't have to carry those CDs around. The music is all in place and searchable, using voice commands. Or just let it shuffle play. No futzing with discs; artists, albums or playlists can play immediately.

Apparently the hatred for CDs is not limited to this forum. CD sales are very very low. In fact, vinyl records now outsell CDs.

oh man, I loved my CDs - flip case in the center console or sider behind the visor

podcasts pre-downloaded or free streaming for me, now-a-days.
too cheap to pay for premium music or XM

used to love driving sticks also - I'm okay with a CD-less hybrid auto instead
