I read the manual and read posts on MTC and still don't understand why I have to use the L button to go thru a car wash.🤷‍♀️
In the olden days, you got out of your car at the automatic carwash. To get out of your car and have it not go into park automatically you push the low button.

I don't read the manual; I use the manual.
I download all manuals: TV, dishwasher, refrigerator, car etc. Then, I use key word search if the buttons, switches, and screens are not intuitive.

We travel quite a bit. Don’t mean road trips. So we rent a vehicle for a day or two at a time. We like to try as many different ones as possible. I love to peruse (or even READ, given the time) the owner’s manuals in the glove compartments. Lots of stuff to learn!
So…Last fall, when the Mav’s manual became available online, I read it all; even though there were parts that I didn’t quite grasp. Once the truck arrived, I read it again. Most became more clear with the truck in front of me.
But, last week, had a tough time trying to figure out how to change the clock to standard time. Try finding it in the manual.
You’ll see.
But I got it done.
Good ol’ manual!
Yes, I know what you mean! Twice a year I have to pull out the manual for my F250 to change the time because it’s not a commonsense thing! I can’t remember if I just went to settings on the Mav, figured it out or it changed automatically but I didn’t need the manual to change the time.

I found the 2022 Maverick pdf manual just before finding MTC.

Dad got me reading manuals way back 1967 Chiltons ( I know, not THE manual) When ever I worked on the lawn mower and got stuck, his always answer was RTFM! Then ask me your questions.

24 years Army maintenance life was all about THE (technical) Manual.

Every old/ new car I ever owned I RTFM.

My observation, here on MTC, is 25~30% of questions are IN THE MANUAL. The good questions are asking what does this mean (about something in THE Manual)

This will probably be my first new Ford vehicle where I consciously do NOT get the maintenance manual simply because the cost of it vs my under warranty " just let dealer" figure out what is wrong attitude.

A lifetime of being Mr Fix it with strong belief that you need to know how a thing works before you can fix that thing. Only things I own; Texas Micro Ranch and every associated item or sub system that get professional paid to do are now stuff like new roof, perimeter fencing, tree removal, whole house interior painting or flooring. Stuff wife and I used to do when younger and now just sit back with a beer and watch craftsmen to their thing.

I believe some where in school all genders need classes in basic things like plumbing, electrical, HVAC, economics, tires, auto basics ( how to replace wiper blades) etc....

I know 60 year old men who today can not fix one damned thing they own. Rely 100% on friends (mostly me) or professionals for very basic simple stuff like water filter in refrig to where are the AC filters......

Too late my friend, we're doomed.

Driving my folks Kia Soul sometimes, I think I'll
have a decent understanding on how my truck works!
But, I'll check my truck manual, if I need help figuring something out.
Not a complete idiot, but maybe close!
