When you enlisted like me or when you were drafted did anyone tell you one of your benefits was that you would get large discounts for the rest of your life. Some veterans make me ashamed to be one. Maybe Ford will drop the discount entirely if all they get is childish pouting attitude. Yeah-Thanks for your service but quit making veterans look bad.Veteran here also. not making anyone look bad, I feel if they are going to offer a rebate to one they should offer it to all veteran or not. I served my country with pride, I don't want any "discount" . Just if they are going to offer it to one person Veteran or not offer it to all. When you enlisted like me or when you were drafted did anyone tell you one of your benefits was that you would get large discounts for the rest of your life. Did you go to ID.me website and setup an account. ID.me can also be used to log into the VA website too.ID. me says I have an account so I need to enter my password. I never heard of ID. me until forum members brought it up so I obviously can't enter a password I never created nor do I receive their return email to change my password. Sounds like a job for my IT neighbor. In life today he gets more calls than a plumber, electrician or carpenter combined.![]()
I genuinely hope you're doing ok. Take some time offline and talk to people who love you. They care trust me. Ford or your dealer has the proper discounts and will make it right. I always go with the farm bureau discount so I dont have to go through the tyfys deal.So with all that’s going on Ford is now ONLY offering their Veteran Discount of $500.00 only to retirees, active duty and Veterans within 24 months of discharge. THANK YOU FOR FOR DISRESPECTING MY VIETNAM SERVICE IN 1970 and 1971 AND THE FIVE MONTHS I SPENT IN A NAVAL HOSPITAL IN CHARLESTON SC in 1972. Are you kidding me? I’ve purchased at least 9 or 10 brand new Fords since i got out in 1973. Thank you for adding to the stress that me and EVERY Veteran I know who is being triggered by world events at the moment. How DARE YOU declare us not worthy of your 500 dollars Veterans Offer. I promised my Wife this truck but this is the LAST Ford I will ever purchase, again! Perfect timing Ford, we, at this moment, are stressed for our Brothers and Sisters in Arms whose PTSD in ALL of us is flaring beyond all belief. Spending time thinking about her truck is a distraction for all of us, takes our minds off the real world. GREAT TIMING FORD, JUST ANOTHER SLAP IN THE FACE TO ALL OF US.
Ha ha ha I’m absolutely fine and thank you for your kind words. My point of contention is I HATE fake caring. “Thank you for your service” does not put food on one’s table. I don’t expect anything special but I don’t expect less then others either. That was my point. If people or companies try to minimize you and you allow it, it continues. If you call them out, they will, eventually, stop.I genuinely hope you're doing ok. Take some time offline and talk to people who love you. They care trust me. Ford or your dealer has the proper discounts and will make it right. I always go with the farmers bureau discount so I dont have to go through the tyfys deal.
Ha ha ha that’s funny. I thought it was called a Veterans Discount not a Some Veterans Discount. I’m putting 40 percent down, I don’t really care about the price because I felt it was a fair price. Unlike some people principles do matter to me. But again some people sit on their high horse while others “pout”. thats so adorable. When you enlisted like me or when you were drafted did anyone tell you one of your benefits was that you would get large discounts for the rest of your life. Some veterans make me ashamed to be one. Maybe Ford will drop the discount entirely if all they get is childish pouting attitude. Yeah-Thanks for your service but quit making veterans look bad.
The problem is I never set up an account so don't have the password they require. Where they came up with the idea I set up an account is beyond me.Did you go to ID.me website and setup an account. ID.me can also be used to log into the VA website too.
I feel you. after using it for an online discount and then the VA, the IRS used it for this new child tax credit payment stuff. Spent 2 days trying to get it to work. The problem is I never set up an account so don't have the password they require. Where they came up with the idea I set up an account is beyond me.
I have tried logging on via USAA, DS logon, etc but still need that password to verify my account, easy if I could just change my password but I never get their change password email. I think the problem is my computer thinks it junk but I have nothing in my spam folder. Prolly need to clear cache and cookies but now I am getting out of my comfort zone. I have chatted with the id. me people and even they agree there is a problem.
I apologize to forum member for getting off topic since my problem is not related to why some vets get the discount.
It great that you posted here about your research into the issue and maybe it will help other Vets. Thanks! The problem is I never set up an account so don't have the password they require. Where they came up with the idea I set up an account is beyond me.

So are you saying that because your service time was prior to 1985 Ford didn't consider you eligible for the $500 discount?Between MyHealtheVet and VA.gov and eBenefits. gov, and now ID.me, I don't know whether I'm coming or going. ID.me forced me to reset my password, finally. As it turned out, if my service was prior to 1985, I wasn't eligible for the cash bonus. But that's okay, we're getting a great price anyway.
Correct. So are you saying that because your service time was prior to 1985 Ford didn't consider you eligible for the $500 discount?
That's odd because my service time ran from 1981-2007 and I received the discount.Correct.
