It seems faster than that for me.

That's the only time the rearview camera view is quick to change.
Was in reverse so had the view up already.
Went to drive to readjust.
Back to reverse and spun too far into park.
Camera view seems to instantly drop off.

Compared to the video delay on initially getting into Reverse from Drive or Park.
But even on delay bringing up the view - the indicator dial has the orange on Reverse and I can start moving - so it really did it. Under a second it seems, but I've never timed it.

And no - transmission learning is only for the 8F35, and that's actually changing Drive gears - not between these tranny positions.
eCVTs aren't doing learning and changes based on driving habits, since there are no gears.
So that's not it.

Perhaps your brain is on hyper speed now with new coffee - and everything seems slower!

Is the orange dial indicator really seem to be moving slower?
Or some other tell that you aren't really in position yet - like shift to drive and pounding on the Go pedal?

Both my 22 and 25 seem to have a very slight delay. Thought that was normal because it's not excessive. The light goes right away, but the trans needs a second to put it in that gear. It's not like an old car with the shifter on the steering column and you can Rev the engine and drop in in drive and spin the tires.

Probably normal if it's not random and not getting worse with time.

The wheel is just like a computer mouse. You are not shifting anything. You are asking a computer to make the change for you. "Drive by wire."

A second seems reasonable.
But by instinct I feel mine is slightly quicker. But hard to quantify.

To quantify here's an idea:

Video the action and count video frames.

Check if you are using 30 frames per second, 60 frames per second, or something else.

I have the same thing on my 25 EcoBoost xl my wife almost fucked up in a parking lot because of the delay we both know about it now and need to hear it change. We both have hyper active minds. Takes forever to go from park to drive or drive to reverse and reverse to park. Forever being " one Mississippi"

Yes, and not only that, but once the computer (TCM) receives the signal, it uses inputs such as speed to determine whether the command is possible and safe and if it is, it then it commands an actuator/solenoid to shift the transmission. The process takes some time and that is normal. It is nothing like a direct linkage from a shift to the transmission as in days gone by.

"flicking" the shifter doesn't help either 😆

It's probably okay as long you don't see this come up on your screen:
