I think the problem is:

One man was able to say:

"Hey guys, we're GOING to build THIS."

No focus groups involved.

I saw the Hummer in real life a few months ago. It looks massive and dumb. But not as dumb as this.

It's amazing how so many of these billionaires start off being interesting, coming up with great ideas or concepts and after success and $$$$ they just become a**holes that think they are infallible.

The Hummer looks like a Ferrari compared to the Cybertruck.

Ya, or a Jeep.

"Jeep" came from GP for "General Purpose" IIRC.

This one can be NP.

For "Nope" or "No Purpose".

Funnily enough I was looking forward to the Cybertruck being my next vehicle when it was revealed. It just seemed so... different. However with the constant delays I found myself in need of a vehicle, and the maverick was just announced. No regrets and I love my maverick. Still have a CT reserved, but with all the price hikes and general uncertainty, unlikely I'll follow through.

Terrible break over angle, probably get hung up on a RR crossing, bed barely bigger than a Maverick, better order than tailgate protector.
How anyone would think this competes with any EV truck from the big three is beyond me. Compared to a Hummer, maybe. Maybe Elon will launch one of these on his star ship :ROFLMAO:

Ford , GM and RAM are all just about the same. A little dash of chrome here a little bit plastic there. Huge front billboard for a grill. My wife loves her little Hybrid Mav. She waited for 13 months. I ordered my Cybertruck ....I can wait a year or 2.

Looks like they're trying to unseat the Volkswagen Thing as the ugliest car on the road.

Perhaps where Musk got his inspiration
Makes sense, my dad built one one year that wasn't shaped at all and just had a bolt to add weight. It was fast and self described as ugly. Ironically my dad moved to McAllen TX 8 years ago lol.

We're all gonna be entertained over CY 2024, because this thing will either be a hit or a disaster. I don't think anyone really knows as of Nov 2023. One thing's for sure - the automotive press will be all over this thing for all of calendar year 2024.

I got a smile when Musk said something like "We dug our own grave with the Cybertruck". I noticed whenever he's referencing something that's going wrong, he always uses the royal "we". I should point out that there's context around that quote. I think he's really talking about the large investment and invention involved in forming body panels out of stainless steel, etc, at scale. Not really whether it'll be a success or failure.

Grab your popcorn, boys and girls. Gonna be a great show.

It's a little weird it has one big wiper blade that does not park or hide.

Seems inconsistent with the "sleek look" goal.

Saw a Tesla Cybertruck on the road on the drive home tonight.

Anyone interested?

Looks like cross between a Hummer and a DeLorean.

The tires and stance, very Hummer.
