Ford: we had to do a recall because the tow lights don't work in some of our vehicles.

Hyundai/Kia: hold my beer!

Hey look oil leak that may lead to fire. How rare for a Hyundai... It was only a matter of time before before the SC was going to get recalled. I tried to warn people on this board that it was going to happen.

That's from last year. It looks like the most recent one is related to a fire risk from the tow hitch harness/computer. It's on the front page of APnews.com.

Ah, a *different* fire risk. Hm, seems to be a pattern...?
Worth noting:

"Hyundai has reports of one fire and five heat damage incidents with no injuries. Kia has no reports of fires or injuries."

Seems like a minuscule risk if it's 1 out of 571,000. Good to see them addressing it, though, since the consequences could be severe. It also sounds like owners can just pull the fuse for the trailer harness to eliminate the risk entirely until it's fixed. Not purposefully trying to defend Hyundai and put down Ford, but this recall is a little bit different than completely omitting a wire that was supposed to be in the tow harness...

That reminds me, I need to get the recall on my Escape scheduled for its own fire hazard....

It's not just Kia and Hyundia! Our Ford escape had to be recalled for fire hazard due to under engine cover not allowing leaking oil to drain! Had to get drain holes drilled into the cover to allow oil to drain!

Early Mavericks had a very similar recall to prevent fires if the engine exploded.

Let's not get too arrogant here... it's not like Ford never has recalls.

At least Ford didn't wait years to issue a recall. These sealed up engine compartments are not unique to Ford.
