1. Yes the cheap stainless that they used is a problem. That's going to be a $600 fix on an EB, or $1200 on the Hybrid with the exhaust heat exchanger. The aftermarket stainless is either much better or about the same quality, depending upon how much you pay for it. However, wet roadsalt in the snowbelt will destroy stainless, so its somewhat moot. NaCl + H2O = NaOH + HCl (hydrocloric acid).
2. Rust on a solid shaft will take an incredibly long time to become an issue.
I'm not worried about rust, was just answering the OPs question about where rust will show on the vehicle. Thankfully I am not in the snow belt, south west coastal area of Canada. Some winters we get no snow at all. The first two winters with the Maverick we did get a lot of snow though, 17" inches in one night in December '23. We do get more ice from frost than snow some winters, so they do use some salting methods, but not heavily or all the time.

Most of the rust was there on delivery, or appeared before the first winter, and hasn't changed much over time. I wash the truck once or twice a month. I'm saying all this just to give people an idea of how little rusting is an issue in the region I live. The muffler and exhaust have spotty rust, it's not completely covered or anything like that. Any exposed part of the CV axles are covered in surface rust. I just find it rather amusing that my older cars had less rust and were much older. My last car was 14 years old, and the muffler was rust free other than the welds attaching the tailpipe for example.

Since they have been around a few winters, is anyone noticing any rust anywhere - body or otherwise? Taking delivery on a 2025 soon, ordered in August and January delivery in the snow belt wasn't my desired delivery date. I plan on some type of protection but was wondering if any problem areas are showing up yet?
Had mine since oct 22, had on rack last month and did not see any rust in fact everything still looked new, very impressed. I have a 2025 lariat that will also be delivered soon, in transit now.

My 2025 hybrid was delivered Monday. It has job 2 pricing on window sticker but NO trailer assist that is part of job 2. I'm not happy about the way FORD did that pricing. I will probably pass on it because of the shady pricing by FORD.
