Roof antenna/light/etc shelf bolt-on bracket

I was looking at options for mounting a ham radio / vhf antenna and came across these guys. They have a couple different versions...one is a bit larger to accommodate a yellow strobe.

Nice if the truck does not have an antenna for FM and other radios which I think is on all trucks. What do you do with the existing antenna?

I assume for $160 that it doesn't interfere/cross over the stock antenna location. I wish it was cheaper.....I would buy something like this in a heartbeat to mount a 2m/70cm antenna onto for some "mobile operation".

Also, if the antenna that came with the vehicle is there and you install one for a rig that transmits, say 40 or 50 watts, it would wipe out the front end of the receiver in the vehicle by induction of your transmit signal into the original antenna by being that close.

Yeah this is aimed at fleet upfitters and hangs backwards off the roof, so I'm not sure what the FM radio antenna has to do with it. I don't think it will "wipe out the front end of the receiver"...why would you say that when people put VHF antennas near their FM radios all the time without issue (myself included, at 50W)?

This is the bigger style...could use this for mounting some lights as well!

Let me put it this way: I don't have my truck yet but want to put my dual band rig in it. I will not mount the antenna next to the truck receiver antenna. I don't like taking chances. Being a retired telecommunications tech, I have learned not to do things where there is a possibility that something might go wrong. If you have it that way, I am glad it is working for you. Me, I will wait until I get my truck and figure out where to mount the antenna then. 73's
